Dons (7th) host already relegated Livingston (12th/last). Two SPL games to finish the season.

Dons in good form, unbeaten in 7 games. McGarry signed on a 3 year deal. Hopefully he can push for some playing time over the last 2 games. Looks like Dons at the moment are playing with a back 4, so that may not suit McGarry so much. Dons on their 3rd manager for the season.

McGarry may have a future at the Dons. Full game in a 5-1 thrashing of Livingston. His first start since 30th December last year!

And only the 2nd time all season he's played a full SPL game! The other being 3rd September last year against Hibs. He has been injured alot, but like most of his career (bar that one half season at the Mariners) it's been another sporadic campaign.

Teté Yengi with already relegated Livingston’s goal. Was 0-0 at HT

Unused sub in a 2-2 draw. One of the Dons CBs got sent off at 64 mins, which likely limited McGarry's chances of making a sub appearance.

Aberdeen finish the season 7th. Hopefully McGarry stays injury free, and gets more opportunities next season.

He might get an AWs callup for the OFC Nations Cup, if Libby is unavailable.

On that theme, the Dons new coach, seems an interesting choice by the owners.
Swede by the name of Jimmy Thelin.

Had a long 6.5 year stretch with Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan. Twice runnersup. Hopefully he becomes a fan of McGarry. Looks like he sets up with a back 4.

From Niche Cache. Seems barring injuries, McGarry will be the no 2 LB at the Dons this season.

Jack MacKenzie has been getting all the left-back starts under new manager Jimmy Thelin – a Swedish coach who was Coach of the Year in his home country in 2023 after taking Elfsborg to second place in the Allsvenskan, only missing out on the title by two goal difference points. MacKenzie’s been playing awesome, there’s even talk of a national team call-up, so no shame there on McGarry’s part.

MacKenzie also scored his first goal for the club in the 6-0 win against Dumbarton. His was the opener right after half-time, turning the tide after a slow first forty-five from Aberdeen. MacKenzie also set up the third goal. McGarry replaced him after 66 minutes and you know what? He also got a goal and an assist. Clearly Dumbarton weren’t up to much on the right side of their defence. The goal is linked above. The assist, for the fourth goal, was a smart infield pass to Peter Ambrose

Nicely done, nicely done. That result means that Aberdeen won all four of their League Cup games to advance to the knockouts, where they’ll face Queen’s Park in the next round (last sixteen). This is a competition they made the final of last year, losing 1-0 to Rangers. McGarry played 24 minutes off the bench on that occasion. That looks to be where he’s at heading into the new Premiership season: not the starting left-back, but a solid attacking option off the bench who should still get regular opportunities... and the more goals and assists he can find, the more opportunities he’ll get.

I feel a long season of trying to stay warm on the bench heading James way.

Being No2 for a player that MIGHT get called up to Scotland is no great shakes. I rate the AWs to beat Scotland on a good day.

Would be better for him and us to go on loan and be playing week in/week out.

They could always use him as a winger, somewhere his defensive issues are not so highlighted

He's moved around so much the last few years Nix, Jets, Mariners & now Scotland - that coupled with his regular injuries, means he could actually do with some stability at one club. Even if that is mostly coming off the pine this season.

Dons might be a useful team in the SPL this season with their new Swedish manager, who was well regarded in his homeland.

Well, Scotland beat Spain on a good day, so I guess anything can happen.

That game was the equivalent of us beating Serbia and drawing with Italy in 2010. Shocked everyone. Our side then would have comfortably delt with the Scots.

Dons and Celtic the only 2 teams that are 3 wins from 3 SPL games. Aberdeen look they will be a more settled, stronger outfit this SPL season.

Dons win 2-1, to remain perfect with 6 wins from 6. So are Celtic so a big game when they clash next week.

MacKenzie the Dons first choice LB, has played every minute of those 6 games so far.

More splinters for McGarry. Unused sub as Dons beat Hearts 3-2.

Aussies - Rowles full game for Hearts & Devlin an unused sub.
Scrappy Doo only 3 starts this SPL season.

Hearts struggling at 12th/last.

Dons on the other hand are a perfect 7 wins from 7 games. They will be loving their Swedish gaffer. Just a pity he ain't giving Jimmy a few mins here & there.

Big game verus Celtic post the FIFA break. The Hoops also 7 from 7.
