NZ Football listed Charleston Battery as his club for the u23 call up, so that is 2 sources confirming it now.

Edit - whoops Randall of course is running around against China today for the U23s!  Charleston won 3-0.

Yipe Randall on at 72 mins (2-2) in a 3-2 win. Charleston down to ten men not long after Randall came on at 76 mins, but managed to find a 94th min winner.

Deklan Wynne a full game. Congrats to Randall.

He's be 24 by the time he gets to Scotland, and maybe with a World Cup appearance or two.

We will see I guess. 

Dundee are 9th, and 8 pts above Stanger's Kilmarnock (11th - relegation playoff spot). So likely Dundee are safe from the drop, but presumably the deal is canned if they are relegated. They seem to yo-yo a fair bit between the 1st & 2nd Scottish tiers.

Just on this as well.
 
I would understand this if he was 2-3 years younger and still coming through, but at 23/24 you've gotta take the deal. He's not developing any more than he already has, and if anything, he just needs to aim and work to be that consistent player that he is more than capable of. 

He doesn't have to look far across the dressing room up North to see another player who was being tapped up after last season but opted to stay on - Now he's a benchwarmer... The deal might be here this year, but it may not be the next..

The team he has signed for, Dundee United, are 8th. The cooler Dundee team are 9th.

Would be a big surprise at this point for either one to be relegated.

Good move IMO. Hes the right age to head to Europe. If you get a 2 +1 deal off the back of an excellent AL season, go for it.
Im a bit surprised he didnt get anything in the Foley empire plus they are letting him go on a free.
The Dundee fans would have enjoyed the great goal he scored last night 
They will be even more happy if he scores a hat trick at the WCup and Man U want to buy him

This will be the real test for him. Will he do well like Fallon and Killen or will he flounder like Smeltz did and Waine is currently.

Today’s date is 1 July and that’s an important day in the world of professional football because most contracts are written up until 30 June. That means today is the day that free agents officially become free agents... and in Jesse Randall’s case, the day that an Auckland FC player officially became a Dundee United player. In more practical terms, preseason has already begun for DUFC but Randall, as a World Cup rep, will probably get another week or two off before he links up with the squad.

He’ll have some familiar accents around him when he does since Aussies Lachlan Rose (Newcastle Jets) and Josh Rawlins (Melbourne Victory) are also joining Dundee United, while Zac Sapsford (Western Sydney Wanderers) joined the club a year ago... and had a pretty good season scoring nine goals in 38 Premiership appearances. Dundee United finish seventh last season as the best of the bottom half:10 wins, 15 draws, 13 defeats. They’re coached by Jim Goodwin who once signed Alex Greive for St Mirren so if he loves hard working forwards from Aotearoa who create goals as much as they score them... then he should rate this one.

This is a huge move for Randall off the back of his breakthrough A-League season and a significant one for the All Whites too as we try to get as many of our best players in the strongest clubs situations possible. It’ll probably get lost in the excitement of what’s to come (more on that in the last segment) but this is a big, ambitious jump from Randall. That’s what we wanna see.

Lachlan Rose, Josh Rawlins & Zac Sapsford all started for Dundee U.
Jesse has plenty of ex ALM company.

Since he was busy with the World Cup, they may just ease him into pre-season.

It wasn't preseason - the Scottish season has already started with the group stages of the league cup (this was matchday two - United beat Stirling Albion in matchday one). United's next league cup match is on Saturday at home to the mighty Red Lichties.

But League Cup in Scotland (played in groups?) ain't taken that seriously. 
Seems it's very much treated as a pre season comp, to trial players etc.

it varies between clubs - there is no longer a Euro spot on offer to the winners so some take it less seriously than others. United haven't won the league cup since the 1980/81 season.

Often premier league sides have a few hiccups in the group stage - last year's winners St Mirren dropped points to the championship side Arbroath ('the Red Lichties') with the match ending goaless but Arbroath winning on penalties).

Dundee United bypassed the group stage last season as they were involved in Europe but the previous season had lost to championship side Falkirk (although they still qualified in second place). Montrose are down in league one so even if there is some element of 'it doesn't matter' it doesn't look good to the fans.

Agreed, League Cup is probably viewed the same as the EFL Cup in England, clubs don't care til the semis

Dundee United have won five matches in a row against Arbroath since Arbroath shocked them 1-0 at Tannadice in the Scottish Championship in February 2020, 

These sides met in 2021 in the league cup group stage and United won 1-0. In 2023/24 the sides played four times in the Scottish Championship with an aggregate 17-0 score in favour of United! Arbroath were relegated and United promoted that season. Arbroath bounced back in 2024/25 and then finished a creditable 3rd last season (they are the only part time team in the division).

Jesse made his debut overnight for United playing 71 minutes in the 3-0 League Cup win over Arbroath (it is now 6 competitive matches in a row that Arbroath have failed to score against near neighbours United). Jesse didn't score but picked up a yellow card after 7 minutes. I was hoping for a goal from Jesse but an Arbroath win ... but got neither !

I wouldn't say that teams don't care, but given this stage is during pre-season there are some crazy results while teams are under prepared and often still several players short of what they'll take into the season.

A lot of Dundee United fans think they are in trouble this season and want rid of the manager, but hopefully Randall can make an impact.

Randall 85 mins and the assist for Rose with the 2nd goal.

Aussies, Rose (a double) and Sapsford (one) again among the goals.
