1-1 draw, Trollhattan and Torslanda.

Hogg in goal for Trollhattan.
Parker-Price, Harry Edge, Bright & Wooldridge all started for Torslanda.
Wooldridge off at HT.

4 games left.
Looks like it will be mid table finish for Trollhättan (6th, 37 pts).

Torslanda 14th (31 pts) or 3rd last, in the last automatic relegation spot. But the 4 teams above them are all catchable, all being just a point ahead (32 pts)

Jeez that's a tight table. With a few good results and a bit of luck, Torslanda could jump from 14th to 4th in the last few games

Sean Bright a name I haven’t come across in a few years.

I remember him as an 17/18 year old for Wests/ Eastern Suburbs ISPS squad in 20/21 and he was the best midfielder in the league by a mile before heading off to Denmark?

Was always high on him seeing him in the same cycle as Stamenic, Garbett, Old & Paulsen, back in 2019.

Would love to know if Auckland ever got in contact considering Ole Alumni’s Gillion & Pijnaker have ended up there.

Owen Parker Price another I would’ve loved to see have a proper crack at Pro Footy. Incredible player back in his days here in New Zealand.

You really need to be playing higher level overseas than Swedish 3rd tier, for Auckland FC to be looking at you.

I think someone posted that Bright did his ACL, at one stage?? If true that would have hindered his career development.

Corica's assisant Danny Hay coached alot those ex Ole guys, when Eastern Suburbs won the old Handy Prem in 2018/19.

He probably still keeps in charge with Declan over there at Torslanda. Parker-Price was either in around, or an actual reserve for Hay's 2021 Tokyo Olympics squad.

You'd imagine all those Kiwis over there in Sweden, plus Finland based Oli Whyte will have a NZ summer break. Nothing stopping them going out to Albany for a little trial I guess, before they hit the beach, and sherry trifle.

Torslanda (13th/relegation playoff spot) host one of Jesse Edge's old clubs Lunds (2nd)

Trollhattan (7th) travel to Torns (14th). Torslanda's Kiwis, would appreciate Hogg's Trollnattan winning.

Torslanda a hugely important 2-1 win. Harry Edge with the 1st goal.
Edge, Parker-Price, Wooidridge & Bright all full games.
Torslanda up to 11th. They now can't be automatically relegated, though could still finish in the relegation playoff spot (13th)

Cameron Hogg in goal as Trollhattan have a 1-1 draw.

Ettan North
AFC Eskilstuna (13th//relegation playoff spot) host Stocksund (10th)

AFC Eskilstuna a critical 5-4 win. Ingham on at 59 mins (5-2).

Baring some massive GD turnaround, AFC Eskilstuna (up to 12th) can't be automatically relegated but could yet finish in the relegation playoff spot (13th). One game left.

So fingers crossed looks like all the Kiwis in the Swedish 3rd tier have avoided the drop.

AFC Eskilstuna with a 3-2 win away to finish 11th, 2 points above the relegation playoff spot. Ingham an unused sub.

In the Swedish 3rd tier he played 18 of 30 league games (11 starts) with 3 goals.

Good news all 3 teams with Kiwis in the Swedish 3rd tier, avoid the drop.

Torslanda with a 3-2 win. Parker-Price another goal. P-P, Harry Edge, Wooldridge & Bright all full games.  All 4 mainstays of the promoted team through the season.
Parker-Price with 8 goals (2 pens) surely good enough to play at a higher level. Bright I see on the other hand was scoreless in 26 league games. Edge & Wooldridge a goal each.

This the highest level Torslanda have played at since Declan and his project started in Sweden. They finish up 11th, 3 pts above the drop zone.

Cameron Hogg on the pine (reserve keeper gets a game) as Trollhattan win 4-0. They finish 6th

A 2nd round Cup game with most of this round concluded in August.

Can only presume Malmo have been busy with European football

Torslanda actually took the game to ET.

So the lower Swedish leagues are underway.
2nd round this weekend of the 3rd tier (Ettan).

Ettan South
Parker-Price, Harry Edge and Wooldridge all played for Torslanda last week in a 3-0 win. Shame with Parker-Price as his stats last season say he could be playing at a higher level. Torslanda play again tonight. Declan still in charge.

Cameron Hogg has been in goal at Trollhättan for a win & a loss.

Ettan North
No Otto Ingham at AFC Eskilstuna. He's at Auckland City now

Torslanda are travelling well after 4 league games (3 wins) in 3rd spot. A 6-0 win on the weekend. Full games Wooldridge, Harry Edge, Parker-Price and Bright.
P-P the final goal (a pen).

Cameron Hogg's Trollhättan are 8th (2 wins) with Hogg in goal.

Unfortunately Torslanda lost 2-4. But so far (3W & 2L) they are tracking better than last season when they only just avoided relegation.

Last 2 games have both been 0-0 draws for Torslanda. They lie a mid table 8th of 16 teams, after 7 rounds. All 4 Kiwis continue to feature.

Cameron Hogg's (in goal for first 6 games) Trollhättan are 10th. Hogg was dropped to the bench for their last game.

Kiwi derby in the Swedish 3rd tier on the weekend. Well sort of.

Cameron Hogg rode the pine as Trollhättan (12th) got spanked 4-1 at Torslanda (6th). Wooldridge similarily splinters for Torslanda.

But full games Harry Edge, Parker-Price and Bright for the winners.
Bright & P-P a goal each.

Parker-Price with 3 goals to date this season. You do feel he could be playing at a higher level.

Torslanda (8th) drew 1-1 overnight with top of the table Ljungskile. Parker-Price the goal. His 5th of the season, plus has 6 assists.

Wonder if he'd ever consider a crack at the ALM? Life may just be too sweet in Sweden. A mix of playing and coaching as a guess, plus loyal to the Mad Hatter.

This week's Niche Cache.

All four of the kiwis at Torslanda are among their best players but Parker-Price continues to prove himself as one of the strongest talents in the whole division.
He’s 26 years old now and clearly committed to the project there because there’s no doubt he could play at a higher level.

OPP has been on the pitch for every minute of the Ettan Södra to date, leading to his ten goal contributions from midfield. He also set up the first goal against Skövde. Torslanda are hanging out in the mid-table ranges of the Swedish third tier.

In Wellington as a kid he was involved in the really early days of futsal and through federation reps etc. One of the highest rated technicians in any age group, great kid just really carefree and easy going, no enemies. Was always smallest so had to be better - more awareness, closer control, better deception, decision making, etc

Torslanda out of the Swedish Cup, losing on pens at 4th tier Vanersborgs FK.
Was 1-1 after NT/ET.

Torslanda had a good run in the Swedish Cup last year, before losing to Swedish heavyweights Malmo in extra time.

They now have a month break, as the Ettan (Swedish 3rd tier) stops mid summer.

Swedish 3rd tier resumed on the weekend after a month long mid summer break.
Torslanda won 1-0 away at Oskarshamn.
Parker-Price, Bright, Wooldridge & Harry Edge all started. Torslanda sit 6th, 10 pts off the promotion spots.

OP-P yet again with the goal. His 6th league goal of the season. It's been said before but he's better than 3rd tier Sweden. Shame he from afar doesn't seem interested in playing at a higher level.

Comment from Head Coach Declan Edge (as team returns from mid season break):
– We have been unlucky with injuries to several important players – Fabian, Felix, Joel, Dominic, Hannes, Harry, Owen and Elliot Blessner – and that has of course affected both our continuity and our way of playing. These are players who mean a lot to the group and whom we have really missed.

At the same time, we have brought in young players who are developing in a league that is tough and demanding. We are also seeing good progress in our own young players – but stepping into Ettan and immediately making an impression is not an easy step. Elliot Blessner had just started to take that step before his nasty blow against Norrby.

Our experienced players have shown great strength and adaptability. We sometimes underestimate the important role they play, but their contribution is crucial – both now and in the future.

My staff has once again been fantastic, especially with the new additions Hunter, Nils and David – who did an incredible job during the chaos of the Norrby match.

Since we joined the club in 2018/2019, we have gone from a tough period to now being stable and able to invest in the long term – both in young players and in our representative teams. This is exactly the direction Swedish clubs need to go in.

It has now been seven years since we came to TIK from New Zealand. It has not always been easy – but we are still here. We are improving, but that work must never stop. It is about CANI – Constant And Never-ending Improvement .

Over the next seven years, the club, and those of us who lead it, need to dare to take new, brave steps. We need to go from where we are – to truly flourishing. That applies to all of us, myself included. What is the next step? We are going. It is a resounding yes.

And finally – without my colleagues Dan (Keat) and Zlatan, none of this would have been the same. Whatever we have achieved, it has been much better with them by my side.
– Whatever will be, will be.

I remember years ago Danny Hay calling OPP one of the best players he’s seen come out of the country he was that good. His size definitely dosent help his cause but he can easily play in the ALM he’s that good.

Harry Edge the goal for Torslanda in a 1-1 draw with Rosengård, in Ettan Sodra.

Faulds on the bench for Karlstad as they host Team TG. Karlstad are currently 4th (Ettan Norra), only 2 points off the promotion spots. In 2022 they had the late Sven-Göran Eriksson join the club as an advisor.

Edit - Faulds on at 59 mins (0-0) as Karlstad get a 95th min winner to get up 1-0.

Kiwi derby in the Swedish 3rd tier (South). Cameron Hogg's Trollhattan (10th) with a 4-0 win over Torslanda (12th).
Skipper Hogg in goal for Trollhattan. Harry Edge, & Bright all full games for Torslanda.

4 rounds left.
Trollhattan look safe enough being 6 pts above the drop zone.
But Torslanda are only 1 place and 1 point above the relegation spots.

All turned bad after Parker-Price left?

Final round this weekend, and Torslanda (14th, 30 pts, -21 GD) face relegation down to the Swedish regional 4th tier stuff.

They need to win this weekend, and hope both Skovde AIK (12th, 32 pts, -20 GD) and Oskarshamn (13th, 30 pts) do no better than draws in their final matches.

The four teams placed 13th-16th all go down.

Cameron Hogg's Trollhattan (7th) are fine.

Unfortunately Torslanda finish 14th and are relegated. They win their game 4-1 (Sean Bright a goal), but Skovde AIK (12th) and Oskarshamn (13th) also won.
Skovde AIK in the 93rd min.

So back to the 4th tier Swedish pub leagues for Declan and his boys. Parker-Price leaving obviously a big blow to their survival chances.
