From the Sydney FC Boards:

APIA are finally getting the big forward they need upfront arriving at the club this week, Ethan Galbraith. Not likely he will be playing against Olympic this Sunday though. We really need someone up front to give Andy Bevin a hand with scoring and creating goals. Hopefully the NZ duo can bring the goals.

Good to know someone is reading the thread, was starting to feel like I was talking to myself.

APIA won 3-0 last night to move into the last 8 of the Waratah Cup. No details of scorers on the NSWPL website, or Sydney forums as of yet.

Any chance he will make the olympic squad? That does seem to be the motivation for heading out to Aussie he mentions in the articles about him. Tho do get a hint that he really wants an A-League deal, rather than go back to the US.

Yeah I think he's after both the Olympics and an A-League deal. It's obvious he wants to get a pro contract in Aussie from what he's said and he had a brief stint with Waitak in the ASBP so you can assume he has been talking to Neil Emblen.

The problem is, as class as he is, we have such great talent up from in the u23s now. I would think he'd be lucky to be picked even though I think he's good enough.

Not sure if they all count as 'young' but all kiwis: Jeff Fleming, Jason Hayne, Rhyss Keane and Brent Fisher (Green Gully), Rhodri Payne (Sth Melbourne), Zane Sole (Northcote) & Louis Fenton (Melbourne Knights) in the VPL.

Here's another Kiwi playing state football:

Kwabena Appiah-Kubi (Parramatta FC). Born in New Zealand and was part of the CCM youth setup. Sounds like a promising kid:

http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/centralcoastmariners/news-display/one-on-one-with-kwabena-appiah-kubi/45312

Born in 92 so maybe the nix should be looking at him for a youth spot?

Pacey striker Kwabena Appiah will test himself in the NYL for the first time this season having risen through the ranks at Granville Rage and Spirit FC in the NSW Super League. Spotted by Central Coast Mariners NYL Assistant Coach, John McLafferty, Appiah will look to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Bernie Ibini-Isei, who followed a similar path before turning pro with the Mariners Hyundai A-League squad. Appiah says his minimum target for the 2011/12 NYL season is six goals.

Is Galbraith likely to be one of the development players for the Nix? In the past we have been looking for a target man, maybe he could develop into one for us. From the NSWPL clips, he seems to have good vision and nice passing, setting up Bevin for a goal in round 8 and the last one in that clip that bevin couldn't convert.

[quote]After some handy work on the left wing from Louis Fenton in the 26th minute, his cutback was met by Alinejad, whose effort was well saved by Italiano, but there was the lingering feeling that the Knights needed to capitalise on their dominance.

Louis Fenton replied immediately after the kick-off, coolly finishing a one-on-one after Jake Nakic played him through, with the Cannons defence completely falling asleep.

Kwabena Appiah-Kubi scores for Parramatta in a 3-1 loss to Manly United.

"United were getting caught offside with alarming regularity as they tried to take the initiative but were caught themselves when Kwabena Appiah-Kubi stole the ball and went one-on-one with Dylan Mitchell in the Manly goal and slotted home with consummate ease to restore parity in the 12’ minute. "

"Appiah-Kubi turned and twisted the Manly defence in the 40’ minute and pulled the ball back for Akiyoshi Saito whose first shot was blocked and the second cleared as Parramatta surged forward once more which, considering the dumping the pitch received prior to kick-off, the footwork was nimble for both with neat passing on the slippery surface."

Bevin got the full 90m as the Tigers blew a 2 goal lead. Galbraith was benched for the Tigers new signing, ex NZ Knight Adam Casey. He came on in the 77th minute.

[quote]A winding run by Andrew Bevin down the left for the Tigers produced a dangerous cross that shaved the head of his strike partner Adam Casey. Their combination up front was warming up into something of a concern for the Wolves, however the home side continued to work hard and were consistently carving out chances for themselves.

South Coast Wolves’ hard work seemed to have all been for nothing when APIA-Leichhardt were awarded a penalty straight after the restart. Daniel Collison proved the saviour for South Coast as he saved the Andrew Bevin’s attempt.

Fenton played the full 90m.

[quote]Louis Fenton and Shayan Alinejad were active early, benefitting from the industrious central midfield pairing of Tom Uskok and Ben Surey, who made his return from injury following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Tom Biss ( New Zealander) plays for Armadale in the State League in WA. He scored a left foot volley that his coached described as a contender for goal of the season.

Does anyone know of Tom Biss?

I went onto the Armadale web site, they only had a photo of him.

I got the information from the WA Sunday Times.
