Still no Linder for Whitecaps II

No Troy Putt for Minny II. He's missed their last 3 games. U20 WC starts 27th Sept. Be a bugger if he missed out due to an injury. Looked highly promising, almost the best NZ player on their little Chile tour a few months ago.

James Bulkeley starts for North Texas.
Edit - full game Bulkeley in a 1-0 win

Let me know thoughts on this!

Some things to finesse, but think the world ranking of the league is helpful. But have a standard emoji for assist/goal/ and clean sheet or GK, CB, LB, CDM

Wonder if we got on the phone to Musa at any point. Could have provided CB and DM cover. Perhaps even freed up a visa spot…

Troy Putt on the pine for Minny II.

NZ's first game at the U20 WC against Chile is only 2 weeks ago.
So if Putt is still Stateside an indication perhaps that there is not going to be any pre tourney camp in NZ - for non NZ based players anyway. All the serious prep to happen in Chile?

They start assembling in Chile from this coming Thursday and have one pre-tournament friendly booked as far as I am aware. Reality of costs and having players at clubs where the clubs want the players as long as possible.

Putt on at 65 mins with Minny II up 1-0. Finished a 1-1 draw.
Pen shootout and Putt unfortunately couldn't convert his pen. St Louis II won the shootout 3-2.

Ronan Wynne full game for Atlanta II, in a 1-0 win.

Bidois on the bench for Loudoun.

Just thought I'd point out that Steve Coleman was replaced back in July.

Employment status with Tampa Bay unclear. 😅

Atlanta missed the playoffs after a 5-4 loss on penalties (1-1 F/T).

Not a bad season for Wynne on a personal level. Played every match in a team that struggled to get going/pick up results.

Atlanta II play a different formation to the first team, so Wynne was often found as a right sided CB in a back three playing wingbacks. I was really looking forward to seeing what he had to offer as a RB when the season first started, but didnt play out that way.

Atlanta United (MLS) were ass this season - eliminated from playoff contention well before the final round, and playing crap football. Given this, I did think Wynne might force his way into first team contention towards the backend of the campaign, however Ronny Deila hasn't obliged.

Anyway, here are 2025 MLS Next Pro season stats for Ronan Wynne.

Wynne will be 25 next May. That's old for the MLS Next Pro. If he's not really in Atlanta's MLS's calculations now, can see him being released and perhaps popping up with a USL team.

From memory the USL Leagues (Championship & League One) are expanding.

MLS Next Pro - final round regular season

Whitecaps II lose 4-1 Real Monarchs. Still no Finn Linder. Caps II finish 7th in the West.
20 yr old Ariath Piol who came through Macarthur's Academy one of the goals for Real Monarchs (reserve team for Real Salt Lake).

North Texas won 4-2 at LAFC II, to finish 6th in the West. No James Bulkeley who presumably has only just arrived back in Dallas from Chile.

Minnesota II a 3-1 victory over Sporting KC II, to finish 5th in the West. As per fellow NZ U20 rep Bulkeley, no Troy Putt.

So Caps II, North Texas & Minny II all make the MLS Next Pro playoffs.

He has a club option for a second year, so I'd imagine he'll get another look with the first team for pre season in 2026 and then they'll decide from there.

If he stays in the states but doesn't kick on to the MLS, then the USL might be worth pursuing, as at this stage it is going to promotion/relegation from 27/28. The USL Division One will share the same tier status as the MLS - Albeit with less money. One competition to keep an eye on for the future anyway (Not just for Wynne, but for others looking to the USA to advance their playing careers as well).

USL (Division One) > USL Championship (Division Two) > USL League 1 (Division Three).
