There has been an update on the Cacace injury and it’s relatively good news...

Phil Parkinson, Wrexham gaffer: “Libby has had a scan and there's a very low-grade hamstring problem, nothing too serious, but obviously we've got to make sure we get it right.”

Cool. Nothing too serious. It’s a fourth muscle injury in the space of six months for a bloke who’d never had an injury like this in his entire career – he missed more games due to school exams than he did for injuries while he was at the Wellington Phoenix - but you know how these things go where one issue can leave you vulnerable to another, especially when it’s all happening mid-season. He should be back pretty soon.

Wrexham win 5-3, no Libby. The win moves them back into the play off spots

Wrexham win 2-1, to stay 6th.

4 pts ahead of Southampton (7th) & Bristol City (8th). All on same games played.

Wrexham win, Libby no where to be seen

Wrexham stay 6th. Hammy issues can always be a bit tricky, but hopefully he's not far away. It might be best he skips the AWs games late this month.

Long distance travel and soft tissue injuries never a great match.

Hopefully the scan result is good news.
But how fortunate is it now that Old is playing LB (and so well) in France given the doubts over FDV & Cacace for the WC.

Wrexham return to league action on Friday afternoon, with a trip to the West Midlands to face West Brom. Ahead of the game, Manager Phil Parkinson has given an injury update on Kieffer Moore, Matty James, Libby Cacace and Ben Sheaf, saying: “Kieffer's made really good progress in this last week, and we're really pleased with that.

“Matty has been on the grass running today and that's the first time he's been able to do that.

Libby has got a rescan on Thursday................

No Libby for Wrexham at West Brom. No Joe Wallis for the Baggies.

2-2 draw and Wrexham go 6th into the playoff spots.
Though Southampton (7th) have a game in hand.

From what I've read, Wrexham fans aren't expecting him back this season.

Parkinson does mention two other players as being close to an injury return prior tonight's big match verus the Saints, but no comment on Libby.
Bad news after the latest scan?

Striker Kieffer Moore is available for the Red Dragons having returned to action against West Brom after a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Parkinson has also said that midfield duo Matty James and Ben Sheaf are making "really good progress" in recoveries from injury.

Wrexham fluff their lines in their big home game as Saints crush them 1-5.

A pre playoff 6 pointer. Southampton up into 6th spot (game in hand), Wrexham down to 7th, ie the teams swap places.

No Libby

Being featured on the tour poster reassures me he's still very much in the team plans, despite an injury-plagued first season

Unsurprisingly no Libby in the lineup.  Match has kicked off.

This news from last week, before the Birmingham game. Sadly looks likely Libby won't play for Wrexham again this season.
Thank god Old is doing so well as a LB in France.

https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/sport/26003219.wrexham-afc-give-update-ben-sheaf-libby-cacace/

PHIL PARKINSON has not ruled out Ben Sheaf playing again this season but Libby Cacace is not closing in on a return to action.

Cacace is out with a calf problem, with the wing-back last featuring in the 2-0 home loss to Millwall on February 7, and it remains to be seen if he will play again this season.

It's been stop-start for the wing-back since joining from Italian club Empoli last summer due to various injuries and he's been restricted to 12 Championship appearances this season.

"He's not out on the training ground yet," confirmed Parkinson.

if he's not playing or even training I dont see how he can be picked for the world cup squad. Looks like Old could well be the #1 LB.

A fit Libby is one of our top 3 players.
It's often difficult to pick definite recovery dates for soft tissue niggles like a calf strain.

It's a large 26 man squad. As long as he's a chance of playing some of the pool games you pick him.

That's provided FDV returns for Auckland for by the ALM finals (or before). If him and Old are both playing football in May, there is room to also have Cacace on the plane. It's still 61 days before the Iran game in LA.

Not looking great for Libby. Hasnt played for 2 months. Looks likely not to play again for Wrexham this season. WC 2 months away.
Can we really pick someone who wont have had a game for 4 months.?
Hes a great player and vital for us but LB is a position where you have to be super match fit. The AW team is announced in May. Big call for Bazely regarding Libby.

No Libby as Wrexham (7th) win 2-0.
Hull City (6th) drew 1-1 with Birmingham so the gap is now 2 pts.

It’s been a bizarre season for a player scarcely injured before.

Perhaps he needs to return to Italy!

Wrexham beat Oxford 1-0, no Libby.

They go up to 6th on GD from Hull (7th) who can only draw 2-2 at Leicester.

Great news. Fingers and toes it's all coming together re players returning from injury.
Though Coventry go on to win 3-1. No Libby cameo.

Looks like being a 3 way battle for the last Promotion Playoff spot, heading into the final round next weekend.

Wrexham (6th, 70 pts) to host Middlesbrough (4th & potentially chasing 2nd, depending how Ipswich go midweek in a catchup)
Hull (7th, 70 pts) hosting Norwich
Derby (8th, 69 pts) hosting Bindon's Sheffield United

A 2-2 draw between Southampton (5th, 77 pts) and Ipswich (2nd, 81 pts).
If the Saints had won, they would still have been a chance of automatic promotion going into the last round. Ipswich an 87th min equaliser.

So down to the final round this weekend it's a 3 way fight for 2nd spot, and the other automatic promotion spot behind Coventry.
It's also a 3 way fight for 6th and the final playoff spot.

Ipswich host QPR (14th, nothing to play for)
Millwall (3rd, 80 pts) host Oxford (relegated, nothing to play for)
Middlesbrough (4th, 79 pts) travel to Wrexham (6th on GD, 70 pts). Both Hull (70 pts) or Derby (69 pts) could overtake Wrexham for the last playoff spot.

All the games an early 11.30pm NZT KO
