I mean it sounds like the kind of place where fans might think so much of a youth player they’d fundraise to get him attention at the club.
Here’s what he he said:
“I chose this project because it was the one that resonated the most with how I was feeling and what I was thinking at this point in my career,” Rojas said.
“Having spoken to the club and people within the club, Zac & Kaz and further along the line the new coaching staff, i began to understand that this was a place that really resonated with my values and was a place that was determined to be more than just a football club.
“I’d done a bit of searching myself and I think that I’ve found a really good place to start playing again and to work through those values.
“I’m aware of a lot of their players, aware of their history and I think I really connected with the desire for the project and to come back to some of those days if possible.”
As someone said a really odd way to announce a 6 months temporary contract.
Is he talking about football values? Financial security? About the way Corey Brown was treated? Late payment of wages which was the norm at one point? Trying to pull a fast one with Brett Holman’s insurance claims? Not paying bills to the Logan council? Not paying NPL fees to Football Queensland?
Not meaning to be a prick, but he’s made such a big deal about it wanting to be ‘more than a football club’. Is it a kind of social enterprise or a non-profit entity? Is there a Queen St cricket club equivalent donating money for each occasion he laces up his boots?
I’d rather be at a football club that made a good go at being a football club, tbh.
Again, even though his family has been going through tough times, the way he talks here about a place he’s committed 6 months to is odd.
I hope he’s got friends in Brisbane he can drop in on when he needs support because it sounds like he’s still going through a bit of a mid-career crisis tbh.
