So in saying that providing he actually play for NZ, wouldn't it warrent a call up over Seale?

Gould is 27, and Crocombe 28. They are 5th/6th in line at best (behind Sail, Marinovic, Tzanev & Woud). You can only ever play one GK, so either's AW appearances would always be very limited, if they ever play (again in Crocombe's case) for the national team. Very little value taking either to the Middle East.

Searle is age 20, and he's probably got the inside running to be 1st or 2nd choice (likely duel with Paulsen) OlyWhites GK in Paris 2024. Though alot can happen between now and then. Searle won't get on the park in the UAE, but will be picking up some valuable international experience.
Searle is too old for Paris 2024. Also, J Gould has been the goalkeeping coach on these past two tours, in case people didn't know.

Right you are. By my maths Searle will miss out by 36 days (born 25th Nov 2000), so unlucky for Paris.

He has been on loan at Nantwich Town

But that finished a few months back?? He's either played or been on the bench at Altrincham through October-December. Though no match day squads in January it seems.

And FYI - Nantwich Town play in Non League Premier Northern (English 7th tier).

He rejoined Nantwich on another loan shortly afterwards, which only ended a couple days ago

Okay thanks. So he's a 28 yr old effectively coming from 7th tier English football. If Crocombe was available (and he may well not have been), then he would have reason to grizzle. Esp given Gould is the son of the AWs goal keeping coach.

But it's probably all a bit moot. Neither are likely in the AWs long term plans, and it would be a big surprise to see Gould actually play in the UAE. He'll get some nice kit though, and a cool experience.

Marinovic (still only 30), Woud, Tzanev, Sail, Searle and likely soon Paulsen - that seems the top 6 NZ keepers.

Great goalkeeping depth there. Paulsen and Searle will do well in the future even though they're serving their apprenticeships at pro level currently.

Hell, even throw Kees Sims in there in a few years maybe if he does well and gets established over in Sweden with Ljungskile. Building well for us in terms of GK stocks for the AW's that's for sure.

Been searching for footage of Gould and found this of his time at Spennymoor. There is a big misinterpretation about the standard of National league and National league north/south sides. The money in the National league is starting to get ridiculous with top goalscorers from league 1 signing for Stockport, Wrexham and Chesterfield

Mods can you please update his club. He's with Nantwich Town in the English 7th tier (yes on loan).

No matter what happens come June 14th, Matt Gould ain't going to the big dance later this year. Not without 2-3 other keepers being out injured. He's the 2nd/3rd choice keeper at an English mid table 5th tier club, having been out on loan at a 7th tier club most of the season.

In reality he ain't the 3rd best keeper for the AWs. That's likely Tzanev or Woud. Even Gould's dad would acknowledge that.

Woud likely the favourite to go as no 3 if the AWs make it. J1 will be out of season, whilst English League Two is probably playing through the World Cup. And the unvaccinated like Tzanev may still be locked out of Qatar, come Nov-Dec, anyways.

Been in the last 2 match day squads, as reserve keeper for Altrincham (11th in National League - English 5th tier). According to Soccerway the only match day squads he's been in this season.

His Dad still the AWs keeper coach?

Jonathan Gould is at Stoke City after leaving the nix. All Whites goalkeeping coach is Glenn Moss I believe, although he’s also the GK coach for Macarthur FC and was on the bench for their AFC Cup game yesterday.

Hard to think that only a few years ago Yeovil were in the Championship. Maybe he'll help spark a revival for the club.
