Moss has a dig at McGlinchey:

http://www.goal.com/en-au/news/4021/a-league/2014/...

" "This club - and particularly Graham Arnold - took him [McGlinchey] from being a run-of-the-mill A-League player to an international, who went to a World Cup and an Olympic Games," Central Coast's boss said."

Was he really a run-of-the-mill A-League player when he arrived at CCM? I don't think so.

Not surprising he doesn't want to play under him

Hmmm,  maybe we need a new thread about who starts and who plays where.

Personally I'm no where near as convinced as others are by Doyle, Burns and Cunningham. I'd even like to see a bit more of Roly and Gorrin before I etch them into the starting lineup.

Can't wait for the season to actually start though, the off season is dragging on endlessly and there is still a bit to go.

He had played 9 professional games of football in 3 years prior to signing for the Mariners, so he wasn't anywhere near being a run of the mill A League player when he arrived.

Will take FFA 2 months to formally approve now.

The Club respectfully declines to make any further comment regarding the Michael McGlinchey matter and wishes the player and his new club, Wellington Phoenix, good luck for the future.

That article said that McGlinchey paid the Mariners compensation.

That sounds unusual?

So I take it the Phoenix can't reimburse McGlinchey or otherwise it will come under the cap.

For reference, here's the place in this thread where the very first press release of this saga was leaked.

http://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/wellington...

94 days, 10 hours 11 minutes and 67 pages of angst later, he's finally a Nix player.

nix have been compensating wee mac while he wasn't under contract with us (not under salary cap)

Wee mac then compensates CCM.

Was this a clever work around?

8) Is it true that the Phoenix are paying him? If McGlinchey is a CCM player, why aren’t they paying him?

“Yes the Phoenix are paying Michael as he is fullfiling his obligations with the club in accordance with his contract. The Mariners are not paying him as he has not been doing so for the them, whilst this dispute has been going on.”

Sounds like more than compensation.

Sounds like we were paying him as an employee of the club...

Surely what we have been paying him comes under the cap.

Must have been from his payout from Sendai and likely well under his market value.

"Central Coast Mariners thank Michael McGlinchey for his services to the Club between 2009 and 2013, highlighted by a 2013 Hyundai A-League Championship triumph, a 2012 Hyundai A-League Premiership success secured at Westpac Stadium, and qualification for the 2013 AFC Champions League Round of 16."

Cheeky little dig at us in the Mariners' press release. Hahaha, We Got Him!

 Phoenix squad sorted?..almost...

Have the FFA been assisting CCM with a few outstandings due perhaps too? Probably.

Would help them get sorted too and move on from this saga.

Tidy face-saving solutions, all in all.

Does the FFA need to officially ratify this mutually agreed process by the clubs to seal the deal?

Now's good.
