Full 90 for Boxall as they thrash Fremad Amager 4-0 on the final day of the season.

Bittersweet result for Viborg though as league leaders Silkeborg beat Nykøbing 2-0 to win the league and automatic promotion to the Danish Superliga.

Boxall and Viborg however still have a chance to claim a prized promotion via a two legged promotion/relegation tie with Superliga strugglers Hobro-IK on the 31st of May and 3rd June.

Hobro win first leg at home 1-0.

90 mins and a yellow for Boxall.

It’s all on for 2nd leg, which Viborg host Monday morning NZ time.

Sadly no promotion for Viborg.

They lose 2nd leg 0-2 to Hoboro, and overall 0-3 on aggregate.

Conceded dreaded away goal in the first min, so were chasing 3 goals from then on.

Big home crowd of over 8,000 for Viborg, but no promotion party. Boxall 90 mins.

Means that next season there will be Kiwis in the 3 different top flights of Danish football.

Assuming Rojas and N Boxall stay at their current clubs.

2-2 draw as Viborg (2nd) host Frederica (4th).

Boxall replaced at HT, with Viborg 0-1 down.

Bit of drama late with hosts going ahead 2-1 at 91 mins, but Frederica equalising at 94 mins.

Benched for top of the table clash with Nykøbing.

Viborg look to have made a couple of changes for this one, so hard to tell whether they're nursing Boxall through a niggle or whether he's indeed fallen down the pecking order after only getting 45 minutes during their midweek draw with Fredericia?

Hard to imagine it would be down to performance after helping keep 4 clean sheets in the league to start the season so hopefully he's just taken a knock that needs to be managed.

Reality check for Viborg who get thumped 4-1 at Vejle.

Boxall brought into the game at 75 mins when Viborg already down 4-0.

You’d think he’ll likely start next game out!

Viborg score twice late (88 & 92 mins) to steal a 2-1 win at Fremad Amager.

They are 1 point behind leaders Fredericia, but have a game in hand.

Looks like Boxall was on the bench, or not in match day squad altogether.

Viborg lose 1-2 to Kolding IF, and relinquish top spot to the same team.

Boxall missing from the game, so though not a good result for Viborg, perhaps a pointer that he is a valuable member of the side.

The fake footballer...

You couldn't make this stuff up! ? Although in saying that it doesn't exactly paint Viborg in a great light either. Due diligence and what not...

Wonder what Nikko has made of it all?

He's also got a page on transfermarkt - Bernio Verhagen - What an absolute mess of a situation.

Sent to the bench in a 3-1 win away at 2nd placed Fredericia.

Two teams swap places, but Viborg are still 4 points behind Vejle (currently still playing in this round, so could be a 7 point gap) in top spot.

Only the top team is automatically promoted. 2nd & 3rd go into promotion playoffs.

Young Matthew Conroy is with Vejle, but hasn't cracked a match day squad.

This week's Flying Kiwis. No news I can see yet on when Danish 3rd tier (Just & Wilkins) resumes.

"Denmark are even further ahead with football to resume this very weekend (and they want it all wrapped up by the end of July). There aren’t any kiwis in the top flight of Denmark (although Marko Stamenic had been on trial with FC Copenhagen when things got weird) but Nikko Boxall’s Viborg are battling for promotion with 13 more div two games to play and Matty Conroy is on the books of Vejle, the one team ahead of Viborg on the ladder (although he plays for the U19s)."

Club website says was an unused sub as Viborg draw 1-1 with Skive.

But Soccerway belatedly says he got 10 odd mins off the bench. So on field when Viborg got a very late 95th min equaliser.

https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2020/05/29/denmark/1st-division/viborg-ff/skive-ik/3034253/

Viborg still have 12 league games left, to try win league and grab the sole automatic promotion spot.

Boxall junior actually comes off contract with Viborg this Euro summer (unsure of the month).

"There are your highlights from Viborg’s 1-1 draw with Skive. Worth a watch too because it was a dramatic one. Although VFF had the better of possession they also trailed for most of the game after Mikkel Vendelbo’s tenth minute strike and it wasn’t until the fifth minute of injury time that Alassana Jatta earned Viborg a point. That dude had to score one eventually, he had so many chances. But even then it only mattered because their English keeper, Brandon Austin on loan from Spurs, made a brilliant save about a minute earlier.

It’s not the best result but it’s better than it could have been. A draw at least keeps them second on goal difference and in position to make the promotion playoff even if automatic promotion isn’t getting any closer with seven points separating them and Vejle who themselves also had a 1-1 draw (vs Næstved).

Nikko Boxall was there with the squad but he was an unused sub. His contract would have ordinarily run out during the pandemic break but obviously FIFA have put some provisions in place to extend all those deals until the end of the actual season. He’s been a bit in and out all season, starting 14 times and named on the bench seven times (with one appearances as a sub), so this isn’t a fresh development but it is something to keep an eye out for as VFF scrap for promotion to the top flight and Nikko scraps for a new contract."

Boxall junior back in the starting lineup and a full game, but it's not a good result as Viborg lose 3-1 at Kolding IF (4th).

Viborg were up 1-0, and conceded 3rd goal at 94 mins, no doubt chasing an equaliser.

Sounds like Nikko went close to scoring by unusual means.

https://www.vff.dk/sport/11910-vff-tabte-i-kolding

"Shortly before the break, Nikko Boxall was close to scoring as he threw a long throw into the bar."

In a big game Vejle (1st) beat Fredericia (3rd) 2-1.

Vejle now have a 10 point gap on Viborg.

From this week's Flying Kiwis. No promotion for Viborg this season.

Boxall also off contract this Euro summer so be interesting, what happens next for him.

"Vejle are uncatchable now for automatic promotion, which is good news for Matt Conroy who is on the books there with the U19s. But it’s a disaster for Viborg since only one team is getting promoted this season (and three relegated, they’re shrinking it from 12 to 14 teams). So yeah, that sucks. Second year in a row that VFF have bottled a chance to play for promotion because of poor late season form."
