Confirmation of Riley Bidois' move to the USA, as he signs for USL Championship side Loudoun United on a 2 + 1 deal.

Feel free to have his updates in the joint players in the USL thread for the season. But he is definitely deserving of his own thread in the meantime.

Only been in America a few days, but he's straight into the Matchday squad as Loudoun travel to Alabama to take on Birmingham Legion.

Didn't realise until now either that this match is live on YouTube. Dodgy internet streams be gone!

Gets 15 minutes off the bench as Loudoun were chasing the game, having given up a 1-0 lead. (2-1 when he came on)

Ended up 3-1 Birmingham. Loudoun looked good for large parts of the game, but were quite loose at the back - gave Birmingham good sights on goal which they duly accepted.

Bidois up for goal of the week after his finish on the weekend. He was also awarded MotM honours for his performance too.

And as an added bonus he should get his first chance against an MLS outfit tomorrow, as Loudoun travel back to Cali to take on LAFC in the Open Cup.

Nice writeup by the USLC for their 'Young player spotlight' for week 11 too. ⬇️

Personally, I think he'll be on the plane to Paris myself. But we'll see when the squad gets announced - Shouldn't be too far away now.

He's gonna go close. But if Wood goes as an overage player, then Bidois's best chance is likely as a travelling reserve. He's an out & out striker isn't he?

Wood, Waine, Herdman, van Hattum & Old. Not sure there is room in the 18 for Bidois. Even less so if Singh (who will likely be moving to a new club) is picked.

Has been playing LM/RM since his move to the USA. But he's tended to drift centrally in most of his games as he looks to get involved.

Loudoun play a pretty flat 4-4-2 system, so midfield has been pretty good for him workrate wise - They don't have an aggressive press, so he tends to hang around those spots either left hand or right hand side of the pitch tracking back and doing the dirty work when needed. When they do pick up possession, more often than not, rather than hugging the touchline and presenting as a winger he tends to arrow into those central positions - Essentially that's how he's picked up his goal on the weekend.

All said and done, he'll likely be in the conversation. The fact he'll still be in season is possibly an added bonus too.

Team of the week honours for match week 11 for Riley Bidois.

I know there is a USL players thread. But for specific achievements - Goals, assist, MotM etc, I think it's worthwhile putting it in the specific players thread.

Top header that for Riley to flick it effortlessly past the Miami FC goalkeeper and tie the game up at 2-2. Not easy to do that right and get the glancing header up and over the efforts of the keeper.

He's been in some very good form of late over in the US. Wonder how close he is to a possible Olympic call up.

Great header. The goals he's scored for Loudoun have been very nicely taken.Β
Big week for the Bidois whanau.

Must be a good chance for one of the 4 Olympics travelling reserve spots.

Wood, Waine, OVH, Randall & Old probably enough attackers in the main 18 player squad. Jay Herdman in the mix as well.

Who said moving to the USL Championship takes you out of the frame for national team selection?

Well in Riley. πŸ‘

Big chance for him. Benefits from Wood being ruled out. Is two season deal with Loudoun (expires end of 2025 USL season), so they could pick up a nice fee, if he garners some European level interest.

Jesse Randall another who will be hoping for some mins at the Olympics. Looked good off the pine in Vanuatu, though obviously the opposition teams in France will be a massive step up.

That choice of finish and the ability to do it. Wowsers.Β

Once in a lifetime shot at competing in the Olympic games scuppered by a torn hammy. πŸ’”

Believe the NZ team has allowed him to stay on for several days to watch the NZ games and catch up with family who had travelled to France for the games, before he travels back stateside to begin recovery.

Gutted for the lad.

Dibley-Dias also picked up a hamstring injury whilst training with the AWs - assuming these are non-contact injuries, so perhaps the training methods need to be looked at?Β

Or I could just be bored at work.....

From what I remember, MDD was already carrying a niggle that was picked up prior to travelling to his first AW's camp. Ultimately ended up aggravating and worsening the overall injury unfortunately.

Very unlucky but sounds like he has taken it well enough...hopefully it's a quick recovery and he kicks ass in the league this season. Best of luck

5th goal of the season for Bidois (2 x USL Championship + 3 x US Open Cup).

All done in only 266 minutes as well, for a healthy return of 1.69 goals/90.

Top of the table (Eastern Conference at least) as well. Don't think they've ever been this high in the table at any point in the season either, as usually they've been whipping boys of the league.
