I agree he is not younger anymore but he was still a good target man which Chris Wood, hold the ball up was not his strength. Anyway, if I hopefully see Rory in next Friday I will definitely ask him about that!

Of course, he's such a good target man that he managed to get a contract with a League One Team while Chris only managed to get a contract with a Premier League team. I'll see the world through Rory tinted glasses when he's starting and scoring for a Championship side or a Premier League side, until then Rory is not the future.

Although I was on Craven Cottage to watch Fulham vs Norwich, but my friend told me Rory scored another goal, 3 goals in last 4 league games for Scunthorpe, while Chris Wood not even in the starting 11 or even subs bench. Rory scored with a header from the free kick this time, bit concerned he was taken off at half time for injury hope it's minor one.

Another frustrated day of football for me as Norwich can only draw 1-1 with Leeds, but more frustrated was Rory was not even in the substitute bench for Scunthorpe. Today I email the club's clubshop again, hopefully I will see Rory on this Friday afternoon when I travel from Norwich to Scunthorpe while I will buy a Scunthorpe shirt, as they say they will reply to me ASAP to confirm.

Is there any question or comment you want to ask Rory? I can surely asked.

Do you reckon he actually gets a bit sick of this sometimes? It was five years ago now, if it were me that would always be an incredible highlight but I'd also be frustrated that I'm not known for anything since (even if that's justified). Like a one hit wonder getting sick of being requested to play their one radio hit from years ago over and over.

On the bench in EPL > scoring a goal or two in league one.

Well as much as I think Chris is awesome

Impact v lack of impact in games for AW

current game time

current form

style of striker

I'd have Rory in my current AW squad and sure as heck wouldn't mind him at the Nix, but I don't mind him as a player as much as some do

He scored great goals for Aberdeen although he was not scored 20 goals season.

Think Chris Wood was no longer make the bench, U-21 maybe but not sure. Again Wood is not a target man, Rory is, a good team should always had 1 or 2 target man to hit to.

He's left footed.

He'd make a decent left sided centre half

To be fair, it's not like we have a whole lot of depth so wouldn't be surprised to see him in there at some point. He's still more effective than Wood as a target man.

Agree, still a useful player for the All Whites to consider at age 32.

The important dates for the AW's are the OFC Nations Cup / World Cup qualifiers starting October next year and he wouldn't be too old for those.

We should chose players who will do the job in the qualifiers and worry about the squad for the Continental play-off / 2018 World Cup Finals when the time comes.

By 2018, he'd be too old at 36 but lets just worry about next year.

Thanks for the questions, in about 7 hours later I will travel from Norwich to Scunthorpe, will ask a few questions to Rory, take picture and sign on my purchased Scunthorpe shirt. I just know on Saturday he pick up a knock and need to be sub off, not sure he will train or not.

I am looking forward to meet Rory, the first time in my life, and hopefully not the last season, be quite honest I think did miss a target man liked Rory...

Did you get to meet Rory?

I see that after scoring three goals in his first four appearances for Scunthorpe, he's not appeared since October 18.

Hi Big Pete 65,

It's a been a frustrated trip to me, as Norwich lost 1 and draw 2 only scored 1 goal, when I go to England we are 1st in the Championship, but when I come back Norwich are 6th, and now 11th, not a good trip also because...

Rory scored at Oct 18th when Scunthorpe draw Colchester United 1:1, but he was injured in the first half, so he was doubtful for the next 7 days. I'd contact the clubshop and should meet Rory on Oct 24th afternoon, but the bad news broken when I went to the clubshop, their club shop manager said Rory was in the hospital for massage and can't make the clubshop! Apparently he say sorry to me and will give me a best wishes card to me, then, this news broken

http://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/article/fa...

Sadly to say he was injured and no fake, I think he was really want to come to see me but just can't, and his future is uncertain...:-(

Updated! I just receive an e-mail from SUFC clubshop:

Hi david

We have sent the shirt shorts and programme out to you rory as not been in so could not sign on the number he has signed the front of your shirt he also has taken your email address as he is going to email you thanking you for your support

Kind regards pearl

Is it true? I don't know but if Rory e-mail me I will definitely put it here!

I also spoke to the Scunthorpe United Home game photographer, he told me Rory really impress him a lot, and he would really in Jan 2015 when Rory return to full fitness, the club will stick with him.

No doubt I will continue my support to Rory and keep update everyone.

Be honest Ryan I paid the most expensive train ticket GBP 99...but to visit Glanford Park stadium, even their clubshop manager say it was a wasted journey, but, Rory was injured and what I or we want, was he back to fitness ASAP! Next year I will go to England for my holiday again, and I think Rory will still playing, if not Scunthorpe then it maybe another team, I will still hope to meet him since without him I won't be here and support NZ football...

Jeff it's simple. I love the old British style of football and Rory was the kind of old fashion center forward which was missing in modern game, of course I mentioned before without his goal I won't be able to know New Zealand football also, the Wellington Phoenix. I also a big fans of Grant Holt too.
