Torquay play Truro next Friday night. I'll be in the hood so may watch game. Be interesting to see if he plays - and who for.

Surely he would be better off in a non-playing role in camp? From what I gather, he has an impressive presence in the team and is well liked and respected. But at 35-36, he has to face facts when it comes to playing for the AWs.

even with the standard of the all whites, he's far to shark and old now.

Honestly I disagree he's too old for the All Whites; I only watch the Russia game and extended highlights of the All Whites game, simply Wood is too isolated, and no matter Rojas or Kosta play behind Wood, it's not really worked, more importantly is Rory show his desire to play for the All Whites, which is many of the squads I think did not have.

Was at Truro game. Rory on midway 2nd half when Torquay were 6 up. No further score. Tbh he looked off the pace - an old dog surrounded by speedy pups. Nice to hear the few Truro fans cheer whenever he touched the ball. Weather was foul.

Think Rory not play for a long time more than half years, possibly he needed more than a month to get his fitness up, but I am confident he will score his first goal for Torquay very soon. My next problem is to sort out a visit from Norwich to Torquay

I love the man but he's way past his best days. If we need another striker we can rely on Smeltz, Brockie or Bevan, even de Vries

Me too, played with him as youth in NZ and was a staunch supporter of him at Argyle where many fans were critical of his wastefulness in front of goal.  Sadly for NZ when he was at his best he was ineligible for NZ.  Rory and Shane are both past it now I'm afraid.

a mate of mine was a scout at west brom

a few years ago i asked him which kiwis might make the premier league. he told me that rory fallon was generally considered good enough technically and at the time was young enough. but he needed to generate a proper goalscoring record in the lower divisions, which of course he never managed to do

Rory what's app me yesterday and ask will I interest to sponsor his shirt? I reply why not but not sure how expensive, he ask the commercial manager, they reply the away shirt is GBP 150, and the home shirt in GBP 350, so I take the away shirt sponsor, and Cowlick his company sponsor the home shirt.

NIixie, was it a season sponsorship?

If so surely the club should give your money back?

Hypothetically, would people here prefer him to Watson as reserve CF?

You know we belong together...

Permalink Permalink

Probably, but that doesn't mean we need him here. The guy is struggling at levels well below the A-League.

He has his ice cream business, so assume he will stay in the UK, but would be a great coup for the ISPS Handa Prem if he played in that.

Agree with Jeff - don't think he would be an improvement on Watson IMHO.

I actually don't mind Watson as a reserve striker at all.

It's a season sponsorship, they already ask me to switch to sponsor other players...no refund.

What's app to Rory and he said if he can't find a club before October 31st, he will announce retirement...:(

No can't, but it's pleased to see Rory make his Dorchester Town debut last week, and if you read the tweet of 17/10/2017 2017... ‪Fallon is winning everything in the air and his knock down find Jerrard but the ball end up in the keeper hands

Pub football (NRFL Division 1/2).  Dorchester's 15 minutes of fame was beating Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago.

I'd say it's a bit above pub football. Semi-pro.

Fair few Southern/Isthmian teams could mix it with NRFL Prem sides and probably the NZFC as well. That's because more of their players have come through pro-youth systems or dropped down from the pro's, but still.
