Another  kiwi in LA! After Elliott with Chivas and Keat/Boyens with the Galaxy, Spitz is the only professionnal kiwi player in the USL. He is a small midfielder(1,70 m): last game was 2 weeks ago and he played a full 90. Next game is thursday and LA blues are 4th in the standings.

Let's hope he goes on to become an All White- then we'd have Spitz and Smeltz in the line-up !!!

Has a certain ring to it...

Wonder how good he is.. Wonder where he intially played in N.Z. If he did play here at all?

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

With a name like Spitz we really should be taking him to the Olympics.

Fuck this stupid game

Mentioned in one of those articles that he played (what I'm guessing) is State League in Australia. Lets hope he can push onto MLS in three years.

Full 90 in a 1-0 win

The Blues took instant control of possession and had the first dangerous look of the night in the eighth minute, Shay Spitz finding himself with some time at the top of the penalty area before releasing a powerful effort that whistled wide of the left post.

Wiki says he is back to LA.

Ok i see now. Maybe he could be an option as a back up of Lochhead in november because of Hogg's suspension.

I would have thought Rowe (or Smith) would be ahead of this lad.

almost made usl team of the week as he had a honourable mention

LA Galaxy Reserves 4, LA Blues 3: The Los Angeles Blues almost rallied to claim a point after falling into a four-goal deficit, but they were unable to find a late equalizer as the LA Galaxy Reserves took victory at the Home Depot Center Track Stadium. Hector Jimenez had a goal and two assists for the Galaxy, while Shay Spitz and Allan Russell both scored as the Blues put in a strong second-half surge.

actually quite suprised with how well he can actually play.. might try and watch a full game to see what he's like over the 90 but on that footage he is quite fleet footed, who tracks back well... i'd argue he is on par with Rowe if not better due to pace.

How is this guy a kiwi btw?

Fair to say he's streets ahead of Rowe. Prob more like a younger Lochhead with more pace and ball skills. Ok so nothing like a young Lochhead

If he's this handy (even Tony would look great on a highlights reel), why is he not playing at a higher level.  Not so sure he could get away with some of this against decent opposotion and not a lot shown of his tackling abilities.

Not knocking him but asking some very important questions as Tony looked very useful when he was 25.

Supporter world's best and worst football teams: Waikato/WaiBop, Kingz, Knights, Phoenix, The Argyle, The Whites & the All Whites

Good question. A lot of good talent in lower leagues in USA. Would be worth a look for Phoenix

Ernie was the Hong Kong national coach previously, maybe not whilst he played for Kitchee but he was born in Hong Kong so maybe Ernie does know about him.

[Edit: Wiki says he played for the US Beach Soccer team, would that rule him ineligible for NZ?]
