Tyler Boyd - USA (Nashville SC | USA)
Don't mind players with ego's if they can perform.
I presume you meant Barba under Ricky? And yes concur.
The whole Academy pipeline setup, now means young players are so so much better prepared for Nix senior football. Very different to days of young Rojas's, Barba's & Boyd's. Credit to the club.
Sure Boyd's minutes were reduced cos we didnt have the setup to get him up to speed. But I dont think he used the time he had well, and his performances didnt really wow me.
If he wanted to come back to NZ we would be silly not to say yes.
His parents moved from NZ to US (or vice versa) when he was a kid? They are back stateside?
He ain't afraid of a peripatetic lifestyle, and bouncing around various Turkish/Euro clubs - never giving up on the Euro dream. Plus he has his Dios to guide him in need.
He's 26, he'll hang around Turkey/EU for a few years yet. Then if that's going nowhere, sign in the MLS to at least always keep himself on the USNMT radar. Plus it'll be a new challenge. They have a home WC 2026. That would be a massive target, no matter how slim his chances.
Giresunspor).
They lost 1-3 to Adana Demirspor (3rd) yesterday. Boyd an unused sub.
He's still yet to score at his 4th Turkish club. Been involved in 17 of their 24 league games. Remembering he has had 1 suspension, after a straight red against Giresunspor.

Despite the win Rizespor (33 pts, -26 GD ) need a major miracle to avoid the drop. Need to win their 3 remaining games, need Gaziantep FK (16th, 42 pts, -7 GD) to lose their 3 remaining games, and Rizespor would also need a 20 goal positive change in their GD compared to Gaziantep FK.
Ain't happening so presumably Boyd will be looking for a new club for next season (he's already played for 4 different clubs in Turkey, over just 3 seasons). I reckon he may consider a move to the MLS at age 27.

Boyd's 2nd goal for the season, with one game left. Useful goal for his Resume no doubt, as he looks at a new move in the Euro/USA summer.

If he can't get a good new Turkish/Euro gig, he'll try the MLS.
That will keep him at least on the USMNT radar, with a home World Cup in 2026. Still only 27. Zero chance the Nix.
I actually see he's at Rizespor on loan from Besiktas. He also still has a year to run on his contract with Besiktas, so that will make it problematic him signing elsewhere.
So another loan deal to another mid-lower table Süper Lig club could be likely, for another season to run down his contract at Besiktas. Messy

Looks like he's made some bad career decisions - both club & international - last few years. Though I guess when a big club like Besiktas make an offer, it's very tempting.
Think is the final year of Boyd's Besiktas deal.

Last game (Aug 15th) he was a HT sub with Besiktas 3-1 up, but game finished 3-3. Though Besiktas were down to ten men from 37 mins. Looks like they are not involved in Europe at all this season.

Sounded like he turned down a move in August. https://www.90min.com/tr/posts/besiktas-ta-tyler-boyd-transfere-kapilari-kapatti-01gbhs7ns28z
So I guess he is just sitting outside the season again. He really needs to move to the MLS & try to rescue his career.
Last year of his contract with Besiktas (currently 4th), which overall has been a bit of a flop (loaned elsewhere mostly). So likely the contract will just run down, and he'll move somewhere as a free agent. The MLS would make some sense. Looks well out of USNMT contention at the moment
According to American Soccer Now, Boyd has options with Major League Soccer clubs, Liga MX (Mexico) and in Turkey.

The Galaxy got one back in the 56th minute through Tyler Boyd – who is currently in the process of signing with LA. Rodriguez lofted a pass into the box, which Boyd got a touch for his first Galaxy goal.
Boyd entered the game in the 46th minute and looked lively on the left wing. His speed on the ball and smart runs to stretch out the backline is something the Galaxy is lacking from their current core of wide players.
We had heard that there is some hold up with his signing with regards to his former team. Not sure what that is.

But now the clock is ticking.
This wouldn't surprise me with problems others have had with Turkish clubs in the past.

That second goal the better of the two imo.
My first thought was the level looks decent. My second thought was yikes, no VAR. and the crowd looks a bit patchy.
From a skim through it seems like RSL controlled possession and Boyd has hardly got a touch.

The US Open Cup ain't taken that seriously by the clubs or fans. Better to watch a MLS game.
