Scored during a 2-2 draw at home against Portimonense.

His 4th goal of the season.

Was subbed at 76 mins with score already 2-2.

Portimonense second goal was scored by Wellington. Heh.

Tondela draw 1-1 away to Rio Ave. Boyd another start and then subbed after 81 minutes.

Rio Ave are 5th on the league table, so reasonable result away. 4 draws and a loss, last 5 games for Tondela.

With 4 league games left, Tondela are 6 points above relegation zone. They only just avoided relegation last season.

Is there a formal end point to his loan period? Any comments or plans from Vitoria de Guimaraes, who are sitting about 5 points above Tondela.

Thought it was at the end of the season (late May/June)?

Boyd with goal and an assist as Tondela beat Desportivo Aves 3-0.

Looks like he topped player ratings?

FYI - Portuguese season finishes 13th May.

So unless he has his PT fully booked through June already - you would hope who makes himself available for the AWs re that the proposed tourney in India.

Highlights here.

Has had a hand in every goal as the opener (an oggie) came from his cross.

Looks like he played out wide and they used his speed and crossing ability quite effectively.
He's doing well in this second half of the season.

He puts in some quality crosses in those highlights - creates a smacking header for OG!

His goal also a great ping off his left boot. Credit where credit is due. From those highlights playing well at that level.

He's had an absolute blinder there.

What was that other team doing tactically though? There was no one out there shutting down those crosses at all for most of that. It's not like he was an over lapping full back, he's playing as a wing forward you assume.

He's got an exquisite cross on him, certainly didn't learn that at the Nix!

That's a highlights package for Tyler; not only the cut in and shot on the left foot but the shape on those right foot crosses were superb!

At the moment you’d have to say he’s probably the the fourth best Kiwi player after Reid, Wood and Thomas. He is starting regularly and scoring/assisting in the 6th-8th best league in Europe (Turkish/Eredivise a similar level although hard to compare directly).

He’s still young, although it certainly looks like he’ll turn out to be more useful than Rojas and Barbarouses.

Hopefully he makes himself available, would clearly be an excellent addition to this All Whites side.

Big test and step up for Boyd and his team mates this weekend - Benfica away.

Earlier in this season, Tondela lost 1-5 at home - so shows magnitude of the task.

Race for the title is very tight, with Benfica only 2 points behind Porto, and 3 League games to go.

I remember a common criticism of him on here whilst at the Nix was his supposed one-footedness. Safe to say he's addressed that weakness since he's been in Portugal!

Has to be otherwise he would play for us, no hope of playing they have Pulisic in his place.

Huge result for Tondela! Upset Benfica 3-2 at Benfica.

Full 90 mins for Boyd. Be really interesting to know how heplayed against a top team.

Reckon he certainly has a chance; the US team is hardly stacked for talent.

This. USA and Australia are both shadows of the teams they were 10-15 years ago.  All it takes is an "injury" for him to be a random call up for the States.

He's played for NZ in a FIFA recignised international... not happening.

Only at youth level, and he was eligible for the US at the time. All his senior appearances have been in friendlies so he's still eligible for the US.

Good 5 min highlights package on the web. Don’t know how to copy in from iPhone. Unlike last week Boyd barely features. Seems all Benfica at start of game and they score early. Tondela score a nice 1st gosl, then they have a long throw specialist who’s throw into box causes panic and they are suddenly 2-1 up at HT.

All Benfica start of 2nd half but Tondela keeper is on fire. They break and score 3rd sucker punch goal. Benfica with a very late 2nd goal.

Nice work Boyd and his team mates. They only had 30% possession.

Boyd got a 7.1 rating (about par most of his team) on one website, however his two fellow forwards got high 8.3 ratings.

Tondela get a reality check after beating Benfica away. Losing 1-4 at home to Boyd's parent club Vitoria Guimaraes. Of course as part of Boyd's loan agreement, he couldn't play in this game. Looks like they missed him.

Vitoria now go 5 points clear of Tondela on the table. Both teams play their last game next weekend. Tondela play away to Vitoria Setubal who are fighting to avoid relegation.

Porto can clinch the title (5 points ahead of Sporting & Benfica), with a win over lowly Feirense at home tomorrow.

Sporting & Benfica play each other shortly, and in reality are now fighting for the 2nd Champions League spot allocated to Portugal.

Hopefully Boyd makes himself available for India.

The Nix should sign this guy up. Given game time and developed rather than sitting on bench and warming it.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

He's one of the better starters in a mid table Portuguese team, he's definitely not a benchwarmer and he's certainly not gonna come over here where there's worse development and less chance to improve/impress

My remarks was a dry reference to how he was treated when he was here.

He was a regular feature in the first team until his attitude changed after he had lined up the move to go to Portugal.

Tondela’s season finishes with a 1-0 loss away to Vitória Setubal.

Boyd 90 mins.

Setubal needed to win to avoid relegation, and would have been a lot more motivated than Tondela who finish 10th and mid table.

Be interesting to see whether Vitória G, want Boyd back or sell him to Tondela.
