Looks quick but nothing really stood out in the highlights wheel.

Top scoring record though and he did well when he was in Aus for a short stint.

Does anybody know in which month of 2012  Daniel Lins Cortes will be allowed by the FIFA to play for the AW's. I only know that he arrived to the phoenix in 2007 so he is going to have soon the 5 years residency criteria that he needs to represent NZ internationnaly

This is a good news so he will be available for next AW's friendlie game march 1st against canada

Balzan Youths striker Kris Bright has been named in New Zealands provisional squad for the friendly against Canada in London on March 1.

The New Zealand Football Federation have written to Balzan Youths requesting the release of Bright for the period February 27-March 4.

Don't expect to see Kris Bright in the team. Surely he's well behind a long list of forwards.

Kiwis abroad sub-continent flag bearer Kayne Vincent was again grabbing headlines in the I-League after scoring a dramatic last minute winner for Prayag United. The win puts Prayag United into fourth on the I-League ladder.

In a bizarre incident Vincent scored the winner in the very last move of the match after the East Bengal custodian failed to track back in time following his decision to be a part of the corner kick at the opposite end.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu joined the attack only for Vincent to latch onto the ensuing clearance and outran the East Bengal goalkeeper to slot the ball home and send the Prayag United bench into nirvana.

At this point, Kothary represents seven players, the most recognisable of whom is New Zealander Kayne Vincent, who plays up front for Prayag SC in the I-League. The others include two Nigerians one of whom plays in the PDFA league and the other in Bangladesh and four young Indian players.

Yakubu realised the win for United SC when he latched on to a nice assist from substitute Kayne Vincent and beat the Mumbai custodian Sanjiban Ghosh with a perfect finish.

The win took United SC on top of the three-team table with three points while Mumbai FC crashed out with just one point in its tally.

Haven't seen Andrew Bevin's name mentioned here at all. He impressed at Lambert Park this afternoon I didn't even know he was a Kiwi until I googled his name during his 60"+ match for APIA versus Marconi. (Dago Derby)
He didn't score but he did fire one into the side netting that, if had gone in would have been contender for goal of the season. Proved to be a handful for the Marconi defenders.

Crap game otherwise. Marconi scored from their only opportunity, a marvelous free kick in the late stages. APIA wasted a penalty on the left post in time added on.

Louis Fenton, Team Wellington, has just signed for Melbourne Knights in the Victoria State League and so won't be appearing for Wellington in the ASB Premiership playoffs.

Team Wellington

Auckland City

In:

James MUSA and Etha GALBRAITH are drafted into the squad.

Chad COOMBES

Out:

Players:

Louis FENTON joins Melbourne Knights.

A huge blow to Team Wellington's chances, as he was to my mind their best attacking threat.
Looked good for the Oly Whites recently too.

One the Nix should look at for their new academy?

Yeah, he was gone last week, although Fa'arodo made a good fist of stepping in to the side.

Would think he's on the Phoenix radar but with an NZ link with Victory in Coveny don't rule out Victory looking at him if he does well at Somers St (Great ground by the way, top Cevapi).

Does he have an Aussie passport? Not sure the Victory would use a visa spot for a youth team player.

Don't know what the import rules are on youth squad but I doubt it would use a senior import slot.

Any chance that Lindsay will head off for the VPL on loan? Would be nice to see him get some game time.

Actually I think I remember reading in the collective agreement that NZ are ok for yoof teams. Let me check.

Getting away from the million page document have looked at the Wiki "A-League National Youth League" page

Under player Regulations it states:
A player under 21 signed for the first team filling foreign player spots are classed as over age players

So technically a NZ U21 player could take a yoof spot but he is also going to be classed as an overage player and take up a foreign spot. Up to four overage players can play in the yoof team.

Basically I can`t see it happening

Just too much for a Friday Afternoon !!!

That's talking about the 3 youth players that are on professional contracts. For us that was Tsatalios, Griffiths, Lindsay.

On Page 28,

4.6 In the case of a Club domiciled in New Zealand, all references made to "Australia" (or any deviation of "Australia") should be read and applied as if replaced by "New Zealand or Australia" (or any deviation thereof).

That gives us scope, if we had our own NYL to have Kiwi's in a youth team but would have to be based in NZ.

[Edit: nope, the first part of section 17 I guess scrubs that]

Contracted NYL Player means an NYL Player contracted  to a Club on the basis set out in clause 17.5.

Clause 17.5 on page 44, refers to signing 3 NYL players to standard contracts. So I assume that would be the 3 youth players needed. Those would count toward the import quota.
