Yeah it's a fair question ... basically the way the sports producer looks at it is we actually reported the goals and result on Monday night's sport news. There was no opportunity to further the story on Tuesday so we decided to leave it.

Some will see the logic, others won't ... but that was the reasoning.

ok so did you have an item on tonights news or what? I must have blinked and missed it if there was.

TV One had an article on the u17 wimmin, where they showed them doing three yard passes and missing the goal from in front with no goalie. Then they show Doddys goal and the geezer threw a comment in about us  being miles of the pace still  arse

just watched the women's world cup clip on tvnz. all coverage is good coverage and all that, but honestly they just never change - "credibility test", "too often whipped on international stage" blah blah. why is that angle so bloody predictable and inevitable

Same as a fortnight ago I'm afraid ... we had the result on Sunday night's news, so nothing on tonight. We would have done a follow up today if the players were back, but unfortunately they don't arrive until around midnight tonight.

Sadly the timing of the matches make it a nightmare for 'news' coverage - we update you with the goals and score during Sunday night's news, so come Monday night it's old.

Put it this way, if the players were home we would've had a follow up story today.

Harsh words Gourdie. It is sad to think they could be true. Not the kind of press we would have been hoping for leading into a World Cup campaign. A prolific striker is something any football team needs to be popular- and didn't the All Whites and 'Nix need Shane Smeltz.

Well said Andrew, with access to all these age group tournaments for as long as we are in OFC there is certainly positives coming out of OFC for us. A mens u20 tournament would be a bit special as would a full womens world cup

Absolutely. I think hosting an U20 men's tournament has to be the next step for NZ. As long as we keep performing and showing we can compete, they shouldn't have any concerns about it.

Mate, tell me about it. There's just been so much cricket recently, but the local season's over now plus the Nix are getting back into it so hopefully i'll have a chance to blog more regularly.

Nice work, Sir.

Now, what about a nice blog on the disdain that a certain other Media organisation/TV station seems to have for A League football!!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
