I reckon we could figure it out.

A Wellington All White.

Unlikely to be a Phoenix player as they aren't likely to say that about Ricki if they want to be playing this week.

So that leaves what, Killen, Elliott, Barron, Bannatyne.  I think we can rule Si out as he's unlikely to be gloating about himself, Killen has been busy finding a deal in China and Baz lives in Brisbane.

Am I close Bopman?

God I hate the 'Ryan coached the AWs' banter. Had an arguement with someone about it on the weekend.
On another note - if Ryan doesnt start fronting for game then the NZ public should be pretty pissed off at him.

Have you not heard it enough from enough sources to think that there might be some truth in it?

Anyone who was at that World Cup says the same thing

Depends what you want to see I guess.

If you want to see Herbert getting sidelined and Nelsen taking over the squad, then you can.

If you want to see Herbert being a great man-manager who got the players to take ownership of outcomes by handing significant responsibility to the senior players in the squad, then you can see that too.

TX - I would accept that if we hadn't developed a cult of Ricki after the WC.  If he came out and said well done the players, they made this happen etc then I would have a lot more respect.  Instead we have Ricky monopolising coaching jobs in NZ off the back of a campaign that he wasn't really responsible for.

Additionally, I don't see how that approach will work at U23 level.  If that is his style I don't think it is the right one for youth or younger players.

Ricki is a deadset legend IMHO.

To be honest, I'm agnostic when it comes to Herbert and the All Whites. I've never been in the dressing room or on the training pitch so I don't really know what goes on.

But you're making a couple of very subjective statements there JD. "Cult of Ricki"? "Monopolising coaching jobs in NZ off the back of a campaign that he wasn't really responsible for"?

As for "how that approach will work at U23 level" maybe Ricki just takes the approach he thinks is most appropriate in a given situation. That would be good coaching wouldn't it?

But I really don't know. I can only look at results, which with both the All Whites and the Phoenix seem pretty good to me.
