Has he ever had anything nice to say about Wellington Phoenix Football Club?

Still bitter noone has approached him for a contract.

I think he has made some good points about the Olympic issue, but do we really care what he has to say - I'm going with him being a little sour that the nix haven't asked him to come home.

What!!??!! Firstly he HATES Wellington, let alone the Phoenix.  He thinks he's bigger than the Phoenix.  It's like someone from Liverpool saying that Man Utd should release their players - he  would right?.  He has an axe to grind over the franchise going to Wgtn, remember him saying he'd play but not if it went to Wgtn - Well it did sonny, so move on & grow up.  What is this guys' claim to fame? Leeds United?  I've been a Leeds die hard fan since Dad took me to Elland road as a nipper and he does not rate a mention with Leeds fans.  Your a loser Hay, stay in Auckland and zip it.

Hartlepool might offer him a contract as a striker then they may just release Joel Porter.  We need to put the word around.

Whether he is right or not, Danny Hay is a moron.

If he was ever any good, he would still be playing at a dcecent level, not Waitakere

Hey (hay?), these guys are not part of the Olympic set up.  Regrets? Really, fast forward to 2050 A.D........"Grandad, did you ever play football?".........."Why of course, I played for the national under 23's".........."How old were you Gradad?"..............."errrrrrr - 29.

No one talks about U-23's.  The statement would be 'I represented New Zealand at the Olympic games'

yeah but we all know its an under 23 competition, its not the grown up version like at the world cup! And that was so FIFA could keep the world cup at the pinnacle not the Olympics.

Son I went to the Beijing Olympics and represented New Zealand against Brazil, including Ronaldhino. Scored twice and we won 2-1...

Hay makes some valid points, as do the Phoenix. We should stick to debating the topic, not whether you think someone is an idiot, which is pretty amateur really.

Danny Hay is an idiot and even he can see that the Phoenix should release Smeltz and Lochead if required.

So there you go.

Maybe these player's aren't really that worried if they get released or not. I can't speak on their behalf and obviously I don't know for sure but maybe they're happy to stay in NZ (although Hay seems to think he has the inside word on the player's opinions) . . . .  Maybe if Killen, Nelson and Elliot are in the squadf they'd miss out anyways.

My biggest problem is the way stuff have reported this one - Hay 'hitting out' ? ?  All Hay has done is offer some brief statements that are pretty neutral reallly. He's demonstrated that he can see both sides of the issue. Hardly "hitting out". Once again the media has pulled the polemic chord, and struck a nerve. On closer inspection though, Hay's comments are far from inflammatory. Yawn.

Oh come on,
he can say whatever he wants to but I only look at the facts.
Hay says he doesnt like Wgtn
The Nix don't offer him a contract
The guy is 2000 years old and plays for Waitakere in (and forgive me my kiwi friends) one of the lowest national leagues on the planet

Who the hell cares! Let him talk and stay up in Akl.
He's not welcome at the RoF. Besides, I highly doubt he'll be up to standards in the A-League!

A bit of a misconception.  He only turned 33 last week...

...and if he wasn't perpetually injured is still an A-League quality player.

he is the media's go-to-guy when they want a a negative point argued about anything Wellington. Feel a bit sorry for him on that point - but maybe he should keep his mouth shut or say something positive once in a while if he wants respect from down here

Does seem a bit like that doesn't it. He's probably got loads of positive things to say, but the media simply don't want to hear that. They want controversy.

Problem being he often talks sense. Other problem being what feverish says...hes never asked about anything positive,so never says anything positive. Though maybe that IS because he hates us,so just chooses not to. Who knows.

As for releasing our players,it does kind of suck we wont release them, people on this forum will fume at blackburn if they wont release nelsen, but at the same time are quite happy with our decision not to release any of our players...that doesnt seem right does it?

Having said that, from a phoenix point of view, why should we release our players who arent even going to play due to the big 3 from europe being available? (if they are)

I am clearly torn on this issue. For me it comes down to what you think is better for NZ football, the phoenix doing well,or the oly-whites having a proper full squad to choose from so they can do well and the underage players get the experience of playing with their overage pros

That about sums it up. Why do some of you get so fired up when Danny Hay opens his mouth. It's just his opinion and i agree with him. I suppose that makes me an idiot as well.

Hay wrote a positive article last year about Wellington and the atmosphere at the ROF. People are jumping the gun in condemning him about this. If the Phoenix did actually pull players out of the NZ team there would be a sequence of extremely negative articles accross every newspaper in the country. Phoenix management should take this as a warning of what will happen.

Why don't they just talk to Feverish then?

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

mate, the guy is 33. Doesnt that count as being 2000 years old in football??
As for the rhetoric, I aint the one who goes aroung slugging the Nix off and saying that I would never play for a NZ-based A-League team if it was based in wellington.

have some pride, man.

And we have enough devil's advocates around here, enough said
