Dura on radio sport now
Media Coverage Overall
Out of interest is Prime and 3 news sharing stories now?
They also seem to using the same scripts on story intros too.
Everything news-wise now comes out of the TV3 newsroom for both channels.
No highlights on One news.
No highlights on One news.
Was about the quirk of the rain.
They showed the goals and our misses, and intereviews with players on arrival.
They showed the goals
Ah. Might have to take a break from here.
It was 3news & Primes second story and maybe 3rd or 4th on one news. Dunno if it was on croud goes wild.
edit: was the 2nd story on CGW.
A new locally-produced weekly football show on the Duke channel tonight called "TVNZ Football Club" promises:
"Jake Tame and guests dissect the week's football action in the Premier League, Europe and wherever Kiwis lace up their boots ."
On at 12.30 am tonight and every Thursday night.
Only 15 minutes but still sounds like a good idea to give some coverage to leagues Kiwis are playing in.
Typical NZ scheduling to put it on after midnight though when only insomniacs and random drunks will see it.

Think I saw a pilot for this online. Was only talk - no footage. And frustratingly Eurocentic. Would be nice to have something covering the local game. Still, I guess this is a (re)start.

Jack Lame, oh how special we are.
On a side note, saw nothing last night about yesterday.

Ta :)
I hope these guys can talk more on the domestic scene when handy and a-league start. Jack is pretty good, if only Duke could play the a-league and handy games.
can anyone explain what this cat is doing in the banner on the Nix twitter page?
Isn't it pretty clear what he's doing

This was brought up on twitter, while not ideal looking, using context and other pictures from the Nix page, it is clear what he is actually doing. Even in the picture you have shown you can see his left shoulder and upper arm going behind Dura head.

Nah, you need thundersticks.for that.
And TV One sports news leads with football again. Far out, we are becoming a first world country!
Is it just me or is there some anxiety amongst from rugby die hards due to the amount of football publicity and popularity?
Its like the Rugby fraternity seem threatened with the progress football is making in this country.

Many rugby die hards I know have been saying how good the Phoenix are doing, haven't noticed any anxiety about it.
Always interesting to compare the TV1 and TV3 sports news.
TV 3 lead with the Nix
TV 1 manage to have about four items first, including rugby of course before they get round to the Nix.

On that there was a very small article about Krishnas goal celebration and Rudan's after match comment and nothing really in depth on last nights game on "Stuff". not even headlines in the sports section as at 2pm.

Just the randoms I come across so wondering if anyone has experienced similar.
People have near infinite amounts of information at their fingertips now. They can look at this information at any time of the day. MSM was always going to suffer as a result. Your morning paper and your six o'clock news are no longer the only chance people get to catch up on current events.
agree with you on the point that people can access "news" anytime anywhere - all very true, and MSM are partly to balme for trying to match the socials in providing access to their stories all day everyday. But the big part for me is that MSM tried to compete with the social media by allowing journos to add their opinion pieces as fact based new stories - essentially they tried to macth the "clickability" of the likies of tik tok, FB, insta etc. If they'd stayed in their lane they would have found their trust scores wouldnt have plummeted so fast - hence viewers going elsewhere and revenue being lost.
One of NPR's (U.S. government funded news station) editors wrote a really interesting open letter which I'd definitely recommend reading. Among many shortcomings, he acknowledges that the newsroom had 87 registered Democrats and 0 registered Republicans and also that journalists at NPR were more than happy to ignore credible stories that "might have helped Trump".
I'm not a Trump fan but it shows that the media's attitude has been to ignore stories when it suits, and yell at anyone else who dares look else where that they're just being influenced by misinformation. This attitude is a feeble attempt to hold onto any ounce of credibility while refusing to look at themselves (except this guy^^).
Totally this! Media globally has taken on this "opinion-based" reporting which gets in the way of reporting the facts as they are and allowing the audience to make its' mind up. Reporters seem to feel they have the right to tell us how we should feel about things, I just want the facts from both sides of a story, let me decide if I want to be moved by a story or not.
Media has become another lobbiest, pushing their own agenda.
Or alternatively Warner Brothers is run by a very right wing billionaire who is currently gutting media organisations who used to say things he didn’t like or had credibility.
I’m not sure where this opinion as news stuff comes from, but frankly some of it is libelous and it wasn’t newsrooms run with journalistic ethics which have been running insane anti-vax BS.
While you’re all dancing with glee, these journalists were the difference between our response to the pandemic and the over a million deaths in the US.
There’s a difference between reporting news from a perspective and running propaganda and insanity. We’ve been lucky here not to have had billionaires with agendas intrude on our news so far. The unnecessary dismantling of Newshub and Melissa Lee’s support the the tobacco industry, but free market for news shows our luck running out.
Don’t go confusing an editorial stance with authoritarians and fascists buying the whole thing.
‘A trend in general’? That the world trembles at the might and power of NPR? Or that FOX the most watched ‘news’ in the US is now frequently not ideologically pure enough for the MAGA crowd about their catechism such as the stolen election crap? Which is authoritarian playbook 101- destroy the credibility of the system, both the checks and balances and the mechanisms. But hey, those NPR fusty librarians! FFS…
And who checks if the information is utter bullshark? Journalists in newsrooms. Who reports on council meetings? In Westport? Or digs through the massive dumps of government information on Friday afternoons?
Did you notice a corporation openly funded a political candidate in our last election? Only thanks to Newsroom. But if there are no functional newsrooms to investigate further what happens? The story is buried.
Especially now we’ve got a government happy to lie openly. Chris Bishop said twice that community groups had been consulted over their rental plans and the environmental impacts of their projects approvals by ministers. They’ve said, when no economist anywhere will back them up, that funneling money to landlords brings down rents.
Often the information is bullshark. That’s why we need journalists and the way you guys are dancing on the grave of this important part of democracy because of…
Jesus, Trump has been impeached twice, is drowning in criminal investigations and civil suits, lied reflexively about everything, has promised to weaponise the justice department to get revenge against people he doesn’t like, but hey let’s cut the guy some slack! Trump isn’t suffering from an unfair take down of any kind.
