Best bits for me:
Why don't the Phoenix have a marquee player?
Never had one. It remains a consideration but I'm not sure the ones who have been brought in have justified the $500,000 or more they have been paid. You have to question whether they are going to put more bums on seats.
So there goes that theory of McKain being secret Marquee. Good to know we still have that up our sleeves if Rooney comes a-knocking.
Why was Kosta Barbarouses let go?
He was offered an extension but didn't take it. His switch [to Brisbane] has helped him mature. Not having a second team didn't help him. He wanted to play more. That's understandable.

That's just crazy talk. Needs more IRD mentions
Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The whole Kosta thing is like the Warriors encounter. The simply can not hang on to every promising NZ player that crosses their path.

at the end of the day the player has the final say where he plays, Kosta wnated more game time, knew the nix shape wasn't going to given him that so took the Roar option...and gets to play with Broich and co....

I'd perhaps say "One for people to stop consistently forgetting, deliberately or otherwise".
Kosta's reasons for leaving were known well before he pulled on the ugliest kit in the league, and have been oft mentioned since then, Yet we still hear people use it as an excuse to bag the team. Either some people have selective memories when it comes to attacking the Nix and/or Ricki, or some people are simply ignorant. Neither would surprise me tbh.
As for the interview being proof that McKain wasn't secret marquee - I wonder if Ricki took it to mean "a big name player" rather than "a player who happens to have a marquee contract". Ahmad Elrich was defo a marquee, but only contractually - he certainly wasn't a marquee in the sense that Fowler or Culina are. Pretty sure Jade North is a marquee player (our Aus marquee spot). Word is Paul Ifill is our international marquee (though I don't put much stock in that), and of course there's Jon McKain. So while we've had marquee players, the haven't been the kind people would think of as true marquees, so perhaps that is where Ricki is coming from.

Yeah maybe, I don't think there have been many players who have been true "Marquee" players, Fowler obviously being one of them, the only other would be Culina at a stretch but i'd argue that he wouldn't put too many bums on seats.
