I'll always pay for content in preference to stealing it if it's reasonably priced and convenient.

Even if the average weekly price of Sky was $15 (it's not btw) you can't sign up to Sky just for a week to watch one game. 

So it's definitely a step in the right direction.

it's too expensive to use consistently. But where it would be good (especially if they introduce an on demand feature in future) is something like the football World Cup. I'd pay $80 for 4 week passes to watch it. That's also assuming all games are on SS1-4 mind you, rather than their popup channels. 

A definite step in the right direction though. Who would've thought we'd have this option a few years ago? 

It's roughly $25 per week. And this is $20 per week. Marginally cheaper with no on demand option (and no popup channels). The flexibility to only use it for only a week without committing to 12 months is definitely it's greatest strength.

This is $14.99 a week isn't it? 

I agree though, its one-off nature is its selling point. And that was what I was saying...if there was a Phoenix away game that I wanted to watch but I couldn't be bothered hauling myself to the pub I would probably pay $15 to watch it on my tele. I'd make savings in food and beverage consumption, and transport costs, anyway to offset the $15.

$15 for a day pass, $20 for a week pass iirc. 

So next thing would be an A-League pass along the lines of the existing super rugby and NRL passes.

It will be about ~$200 per season to watch all the 'Nix's away games. For that amount Sky should just packaged the whole HAL and FFA Cup, include on-demand replays and highlight shows (even chuck in some of Fox's magazine shows).

If I was a subscriber (which I'm not) cricket would be one of the main drawcards so this would annoy me.

They're like a CD shop 10 years ago, clinging to their outdated mode of delivery, but things are changing fast!

Sky does this every time a rights package is up for negotiation. It's their standard tactic. 

They do the "No one else will pay for it, so we'll just wait and hope to get a discount cause there is no competition"

I think all the tours over the past 3-4 years have been close to not covered by Sky (Deal done at last minute)

you'd think they'd see that as risky these days. Especially with overseas tours, where they don't have monopoly over OSB like they do domestically. 

They risk someone like lightbox sport swooping in and claiming the rights from under their nose at the last minute, as happened with EPL.

I would pay $15 for a Sky day pass, no problem paying for the product. But Sky also have to ramp up the quality of their broadcast, theu got a bit lazy in the last year.Tha Bozza guys talks about adding value to the game, I want the same form sky. More cameras, super slow-mo, better and more analyses, background info. There is much to improve.

Oh I agree, am surprised it has never happened before.

As for the EPL, I can see Sky paying waaaay over the current contract price this time around in an attempt to just kill off Coliseum and continue their monopoly, even though I am fairly sure that it has bolted already.

You're effectively sharing YOUR internet connection with every other user of Hola AND allowing them to potentially run script on your machine. 

Remove immediately and seek alternatives.

Running Hola is pretty much as risky as running a Tor exit-node. But if you are running a Tor exit-node you probably know what you are doing, whereas the average user running Hola doesn't.

I am running Hola at home, I had no idea. 

Can someone more technical tell me what the risks are here? Could this be affecting general performance (asking as my pc performance at home seems to have dipped) And what would be a good suggested alternative?

I can google and make decisions myself, but I do prefer the advice from people round here, it is generally excellent (notwithstanding it was someone here who told me to get Hola LOL)

The risks certainly outweigh the pros of using Hola.  As is the way these days if its free its probably free for a reason.  and it only takes one bad thing to appear as if its your internet connection to result in a life long digital (or legal) scar.

I was also a Hola user, not for long before I started to realise what it was doing, and then I went to Unotelly. Much better service, and meh it's $5 a month.

So a small range of on demand, I suppose if they start doing more sports/leagues as stand alone products the on demand offering will increase.

didn't realise you also for access to the other stuff. That's not bad. Wonder if that'll be in the actual package. 

Looks like the bit rate for the channels maxes out at 3000kbps, but the bit rate for the NRL/super rugby/F1 maxes out 4500kbps.

I suspect they may have picked up what sommet had. Just like sky picked up the odd English championship game.

Nah, just a TV with an HDMI input. Then plug your laptop in and you have pretty much everything at your fingertips.

same as before. 2 live games each match day. The rest either delayed or not shown at all. 

Surely this is no longer good enough? 

on a positive spin - Europa league which wasn't on last year, Capital One Cup, and Football championship all covered and Champions league at the same level if not slightly better than how ESPN delivered it.

If ratings for these games are good then hopefully they will put more on - if ratings are poor then we will have to put up with what is being offered.
