But Leggy doesn't post anywhere near as much as you do, and much of that is not propounding propositions- it's talking about Fellaini's form etc

so comparison fail Jeff!

What disappoints me about this Leggy is that you, me and Malcolmson are same generation. Fortunately, I think I have managed to keep in touch with the modern game (just). I don't think you and Malcolmson have which is why your opinions generate such reaction. You might think that harsh, but back in our day, is not relevant to today. Back in our day we whipped the blacks and had them pick cotton. Might have been fine to tell them to toughen up then but today, it just does not happen because that does not happen. If Malcolmson can't stay in touch with the modern game and move on from 'his day' and accept that things are different and that the rules then are not the same as now, he needs to fudge off to a retirement home and stay out of the press. His comments do more harm than good.

Its compulsory to grow old, but not to grow up. Take this constructively but you gotta keep in touch with whats going on and look at the game through modern eyes and not the ones you wore when you were playing 'back in our day'

You think you have kept up with the modern game but I have not. How arrogant are you. You would not know anything I have done to keep up to date with the modern game. Well here is a bit of my arrogance......................I have forgotten more about the game than you will ever know.

Arrogant - absolutely. I gave you a bit back that you give out to everyone else

Forgotten more - probably. I have not professed to have done much in game. However you tend to show what you have forgotten most times you post

Lastly (and more the point) - you proved my point rather succinctly and better than I was trying re 'this is how it was done back in my day'. You show the exact same contempt and ignorance as Malcolmson does. Someone far smarter than I said 'you don't need to have been a horse to know how to be a jockey' You should consider that.

'I tend to show what I have forgotten most times I post.'  Ha ha JV. Most of your threads (and there are many) tend to be essays trying to pretend you know a lot. At least I try to stick to the football threads.

But don't stop cause I still enjoy reading your 'righteous opinions.'

Oh absolutely, and I can back it up. I'm glad you and others enjoy it.

As a matter of unscientific fact about most of my 'righteous opinions' vs your clap trap, take a look at this.

The numbers don't lie for the masses in terms of my load of shyte vs yours.

FFS, this is not a dick measuring competition.

personally I think Vader and Leggy need to find a room, hug it out and move on! Clearly a case of wanting each other but being too scared to admot it so they abuse each other.

I will laugh if Sam Malcomson's next  print piece  includes a lament to shoddy dong  measuring  by  the modern player.

But seriously - yes. Sam is entitled to have an opinion, and everyone else is allowed to explain what a fudging pile of shark cods it is. Freedom of speech goes both ways and there's no rule we have to stay quiet for abject ignorance.

The problem with Malcolmson is that he and a few others are stuck in the "in my day" mentality. They just refuse to change along with the game. He is as boring as Billy Harris and Fred de Jongs Sky commentaries. Time to flag it Sam, if only you had taken up coaching and showed what you were made of instead of going into the media.

He does coach doesn't he? did I hear something about Orewa College or something?

He was player coach at West Auckland when Rex Dawkins was the chairman.

Merrick has added quality players and there is harmony on and off the field, although years of disappointment have left a scar in that self-belief is still not what it could be. This contributes to the phenomenon of a slow starting side that struggles to find rhythm and often waits until the second half to hit top gear. The Phoenix are often like a new team in the second spell - it's as if they need a goal to get them going.

Or until 70+ mins and then Weemac sparks into life.

I don't think its Sam as such. Anyone could have written that and been greeted with a 'WTF?'. Everyone is allowed an opinion but you would expect that for a man who played as much as him, it would be closer to being on the money than not and Sam is rarely on the money.

Does he want to explain our slow start on Sunday?

The people that clicked the this button are about as intelligent as you.

I was merely pointing out that with our two best strikers out I could not see the replacements coming up to their standards.

Pretty simple really.

Leggy still operating under the basis that the more games you played at a high level the wider your knowledge of football. Doesn't he know Pele is thick as fudge.
