Watching BBC news tonight on Sky....looks like its a done deal for Beckham to sign with Milan. All jacked up by the new England coach so Becks gets game time....sooooooooooooo what is the chance that Milan will release him to play some exhibition game against the O-League All Stars? ZERO!!!!!!  There will be a riot if Beckham does a no show!!!

What exactly does Brian Laudrup have to do with Oceania football? French players born in New Caledonia yes, Australians maybe at a pinch, but if you're going to start having former Danish internationals who have never played in Oceania, why not just call it an international invitational team?

some of his extended family emigrated to Dannevirke?

Oh sh*t why the hell would ya?

This game has been a joke the whole time and it don't sound much better.

I would rather see a "real" team like the Nix play, or an up and coming youth side rather than old men with walking sticks...what next Maradona gonna play?

No need for the Red Squad zinidane.
This game does nothing for me either. Phoenix v Waitakere much more appealing.

The words Steven Old and All Stars should never be in the same sentence.

Under 17 WC far more attractive.....and I don't mean the talent.

Whos behind this game?

I mean if it all blows up and they get a crowd of 5,473, who will then be responsible for paying LA Galaxy $1m + or whatever is mooted.

I sincerely hope its not NZF they are already poor enough and I can see this failing (Although I really hope it doesn't)

No, it's the Auckland Regional Council and the OFC.

I don't understand what is in this for the ARC, is it just Mt Smart getting used or do they expect to make a profit? I can see the game bombing quite badly and I think the ARC could be spending money on something a bit more useful/important, namely making sure the country doesn't end up as a laughing stock in 2011 because of an unfinished Eden Park and a shocking transport system

Build a decent public transport system and they may have a point, or alternatvely demolish the whole city and start again.... that could work

Galaxy's NZ trip shelved over Becks loan deal

The Los Angeles Galaxy have pulled out of their December trip to Australia to play the Queensland Roar due to David Beckham's likely loan stint with AC Milan.

Reports in the United States suggest the former England captain did not want to risk getting injured before the start of his expected short-term loan switch to the Rossoneri, over which he is currently in talks.

With the 33-year-old's availability in doubt, the MLS club have opted to call off the December 11 encounter in Brisbane.

''To avoid disappointment for the many fans that were expected to travel to Brisbane from all parts of Australia for this event, it was decided to postpone this game before tickets went on sale to the general public,'' said Tom Payne, the Galaxy's president of business operations, in a statement.

''Fans with tickets as a result of a priority pre-purchase this week will receive a full refund.

''We are very hopeful that we will be able to re-schedule the game in Brisbane in the near future and will make this a priority for our organisation.''

Dont actually mention NZ anywhere in the article other than the heading, seems like we have annexed Brisbane; but looks like it could be off

They're wrong.

The headline says NZ but the article is only about the Clogs game.  ARC are all over the radio saying it is still on and they talked to the Galaxy last night.

I can see why Beckham wouldn't want to play a game against the clogs but be happy to play in a friendly kick about in Auckland. Much more likely to suffer a Milan threatening injury against the clogs than in Auckland.

Who cares. The guy is a waste of space anyway!

But according to your logic, then it would be a disappointment if Posh Spice doesn't get to see News. Now she doesn't have a glorious excuse to tell Beckham to visit NZ.
