what you're saying is you prefer simulating cheats get away with it then? Did you read the article? If you take a look it says that any video analysis, looked at after the game, which proves a player simulated a dive then he will be punished accordingly. Hard to pick up by the refs, and a good move IMO. Stamp out the cheatsRoyal2008-10-23 11:33:42

Have edited post! It actually is a fantastic idea now that I have read it.
Diving is cheating, and pisses everyone off. I initially thought it was TMO stuff like rugby, league and cricket which I do not like, but reviewing after a match, fantastic idea.

think its a good idea, means the game can flow and the cheaters get stung afterwards, although what if the simulation creates the winning goal???

Good point as a whole bunch of smiulation involves nabbing a penalty. I would wholeheartedly disagree with any points or a win being denied as a result. I think it has merits in a ban or fine. Simon would get one for Sunday's game, although the ref picked that one up.

Why have Referees and Assistants?
Cameras in any other workplace are normally considered a breach of privacy if they are used to punsih people for their misdemeanors so why should the football pitch be any different?
Maybe Managers need to take a little more responsibility and sideline players who continually reoffend like in the real world!

Would you sideline your own player for simulation after he won a free kick outside the opposition penalty area and got the innocent defender a yellow card?
Can't see it happening some how

Yes, if I was dicked out of 3 points the week before for the same thing happening against me and I was overly critical about "simulation" at the Post-Match press conference!

i agree about managers need to take responsibility for their players and take action for simulation as the referees are clamping down on players doing that... take the liverpool v athletico madrid this morning, two cautions for it. so cameras and video referees = NO

Don't like the idea. Always having to wait for the sentence to be handed down to one of your players each week sounds stressful and the heart will probably give up early as a result. In the NRL someones always up before the judiciary, and it gets tiresome, we don't want to turn it into that.
Also, bear in mind that often if a player has run all the way up the field and gets tackled they'll fall down easily because they are tired, not because they want a freekick. It could be very easy to confuse the two and have somebody punished when they weren't committing any act of simulation.

post game analysis yes. Use during the game no.

I too cool to read articles, but all it takes is for a team of people to watch every game after they have been played, and pick out people who dive. If someone is caught once in the season, they are fined 10,000, a second time is a 3 match ban, and the third time a 10 match ban. If they get caught again after that, they get a leg chopped off at the knee.
Problem solved.
All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Excellent point that often gets overlooked amidst the hysteria of 'diving' and 'cheating'.

I can't see they will punish every single event that may resemble simulation, just the bleeding obvious such as Matt Simon's against us last weekend. Those that should be punished will be. I think plenty of people are over-reading the end result. These won't be pressure calls on the spot during the game, but a review afterwards to get rid of blatant cheating.
I can't find an argument against it

But the bleeding obvious are bleeding obvious. That's why Simon got they yellow card. So why do this unless you want to fine-comb any potential incident of 'diving' or 'simulation'?

Because it's not always picked up. That's the easiest answer yet

Well, if it's obvious, it gets picked up 99.9% of the time.
If it's not, the video evidence won't necessarily be able to prove anything one way or the other, because it'll be difficult to prove intent.
