Telecom you just go in to a shop with your phone and ask for your number.
With vodafone, you need to be on a plan to get to pick your number. Or browse through all the prepay packs until you find the one you're looking for...

I don't have a Telecom phone yet... will have to 'invest' in one of their pig ugly CDMA handsets until they get back to reality and at least 3G late this year (thats the trial at least)

Did that at Vodafone and now my phone number has more digits than my credit card

if you are switching from vodafone to a telecom contract, you can ask in-store for a particular number. granted you can't always get what ya want, but telecom have recently expanded their scope of phone numbers so that should open a few doors.

i used to work for the pricks.

One question before getting into the numbers, why???? Especially if T'Scum are plabnning on ditching their current CDMA network to go to 3GSM? Their current hardware wont operate on the new network!

Vodas are currently operating it, only limitations at the moment is the bad that it is currently operating on - limited range, so coverage is a small issue, this is being workled on. Everything else is fully functional. Telecom's version may have its limitations I don't really know.

Telecom wont be taking the CDMA network down until 2013. I was talking to
a mate on the train this morning who is still "in" at Telecom. Much like how the
025 network was slowly weeded out, the same will happen with the CDMA network.

Telecom are going to be carrying the N-Series of Nokia phones for the new network, wil make
a nice change.

TradeMe - NZ's ebay.

You buy an old phone, and it comes with a number already. So you basically get some geezer's old number.
