I'd post you some tickets PG but the programme is:

So i'd need a letter or PM from your mum to say you're allowed to stay up past your bed time

if you do this we'll even put a special u18 room aside for you where none of the drunk hippies will be

Ok, I'll do that.....

And I'll drive there using bio-fuel made out of corn, before getting on a boat made to run on bio-fuel made from corn. I'm sure you'll love that, though I don't know if the 2 or 3 starving families will..... Pure Genius2008-06-03 20:51:28

I'm a self-confessed "greenie", but I actually agree with you Food is more important than fuel, the cost of producing biofuel includes the impact on whoever misses out on that food. Biofuels is defiantly an idea that needs some work, I don't see it as a practical option at this point.

That being said, we've hit peak oil, and global warming is unfortunately a fact of life. I'd rather try and do something proactive rather than just stick my head in the sand out of denial and/or ignorance.

The point of parties such as this one is simple - to celebrate the successes we've made, to help get the facts out to members of the general public who come along for the gigs, and simply to have fun. It's planned to be carbon neutral, so there's no hypocrisy. Just fun and a good message. If it's not your kind of thing, fair enough, but I'm sure there's better things you can do with your time than hassling people who are just trying to be responsible.

Keep up the good work Salmon07, might see ya there.

Wouldn't mid seeing/hearing an arguement against the idea that the earth warms/cools in a cycle! approx every 30 odd years the earths temp rises/decrease some, infact there is evidence to say that the polar ice caps were once green as was Greenland etc, infact one arguement against global warming is the fact that Greenland is several degrees colder than it ever has been, whilst I'm not dissing all the "global warming theories" I don't tend to suscribe to the theory that we ar impacting on the warming thing as much as we are lead to beleive.

Eh? Care to explain this?

Certainly....

1) Basically scare mongerers (sp) and govts. etc (Al Gore is a prime example) made it up, and as a result can now tax the pants off of us, on things such as Petrol. Much of the information in movies like "an inconvient truth" is false but people take them as gospel because they see it on TV.

2) As a result people who believe them (Al Gore and co.) are loving idea's such as biofuels. I have no problem with biofuels in principle, however much of the fuel is made from corn and similar food sources, which feed families. It takes the same amount of corn to fill a car with petrol as it does to feed a family FOR A YEAR!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to things that "improve" our planet like recycling for example, however I don't think I should be taxed because of something that happens naturally, does not damage us and there is nothing we can do to fix.

Don't want to get into an involved discussion over this, but to blame proponents of global warming for famines in the third world is a bit misguided.
The problem with third-word countries and the food shortages there is multi-layered and has existed long before any concerns about global warming were publicly aired. The problems range from political (both external and internal, and including colonial legacies, corrupt and incompetent regimes, etc), social and educational, and even environmental. The sad reality is that the world produces enough food to comfortably feed everyone, but because of the various factors involved (and which clearly pre-date concern over global warming and biofuels) starvation and food shortages are still an all too common sight in the third world.

Apparently their is a big oil field in northern Canada that is so big it puts most others to shame but access to it in such an isolated  environment is stalling oil companies attempts to go for it.

Also south of Stewart Island is also another big oil feild which again is protected by natural elements such as rough seas and deep water..

As for the Al Gore doco, the scientific community are almost evenly divided on that argument. And yes, profitaring from this documentary is being done by various groups.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
