Study is average. My only worry is History because that is so unpredictable in regards to the content of the questions!

As far as I remember last year, the teachers told us each topic is spilt into 3 parts. For us the perspectives was Q1 & 2 and the Essay was 2 & 3. I know thats not much help but if you know its going to cover a certain area it can save you a lot of study!

All decreases for it. Basically the price of exports increase (Exports decrease) and/or the price of imports decrease (Imports increase)

i thought it was the other way around..?
i.e. terms of trade increasing means export prices being received by NZ firms are rising relative to the price NZ firms are paying for imports. Thus balance on goods increases, as X goes up and M down, therefore also improving the current a/c...?
i forgot what the third thing it affected was? after the balance on goods and the current account.

Aggregate demand. Yeah saw on studyit, some guys said that assuming there's no change in quantity the the amount received would increase, so the balance of goods improves.

Wikipedia:

An improvement in a nation's terms of trade (the increase of the ratio) is good for that country in the sense that it has to pay less for the products it imports. That is, it has to give up fewer exports for the imports it receives.

You could get more reliable resources but basically this agrees with me. (ToT increase leads to X decreasing)

I suppose that is perhaps the reason you had to justify it (So they might accept more then one answer). Though realistically if price increases, demand falls so it would be more likely that Demand would fall rather then quantity stays the same but prices rise.wellyphoenixfan2009-11-16 22:45:39

MathWizz1991 wrote:
it's export price index over import price index. balance on goods would improve, assuming quantities unchanged, X increases relative to M. the effect on the other two flows on from this. he limitation to this is ToT only shows relative prices and not quantities, so this may not occur.

But then they go on to say you could argue either.

SouthAfrica2010 wrote:
So I would be alright saying those things would decrease?

Yea I would say so provided you explained it and also explained your net effect on X and M based on whether you thought the relative price change was greater/less than the relative quantity chang
