Haven't posted my usual talkin-to-myself F1 posts, 'cos Lweis has been a real d-bag the last 2 GPs

Awesome to see Marcus Ambrose win his first NASCAR sprint cup race. was really only a matter of time till he won one of the road courses. stellar effort though. now an outside chance at making the chase as a wildcard

solid as week for marcus ambrose. wins the sprint cup at watkins glen  then wins the nationwide at montreal

Hopefully he gets a quality car and a drive in top class, so he's somewhat competitive

So in amongst all the other sport going on at the moment i almost forgot its Bathurst this weekend!! I bloody love this race, one of my favorite sporting events of the year.
07 Oct 07:17 · edited 09 Sep 05:24
What other sport?? haha. Sundays spot on my mates couch is booked. Beers, constant food supplied all day by his lovely wife and afterwards, I get to play Bathurst in my very own 6.0 VE Commodore   Tander fastest in qualifying before the top 10. 8 Holdens in the top 10.

Looks like Murphy's gonna do well again, then get screwed over due to bad luck, idiotic opposition driving, or a crappy co-driver perfomane. Go the Gis and Mac
08 Oct 23:05 · edited 09 Sep 05:24
Yay, Bathurst then Phoenix , Best Sunday for a while imo

Can someone explain the hype surrounding Bathurst and V8 Super cars? I've never got into any touring car racing.

IMO, Modified family sedans racing around a track seems a bit like slipping around wearing cross-trainers when they should be wearing boots in Football.

Formula One is the best type of racing (available... F1 has lots of problems too, it is nowhere near a perfect product.).'Open wheel racing' vehicles are specifically made to race, rather than looking cool taking the kids to school.

NZGP (Formula Toyota) deserves more time and money invested in it, so instead of Greg Murphy, Paul Radisich, Chris Baird et el giving up on open wheel racing and moving into Touring Cars, there could be some sort of Open wheel trans-Tasman series. I liked the concept and cars that were involved in A1 GP too, pity it folded. Actually this paragraph is just a pipe dream, not ever likely to happen. But could you imagine, as an event, a weekend like the Hamilton 400 but for the NZGP?

well im in to pretty into much every form of motorsport, except bikes, and i just love bathurst, more the race than the whole v8 circuit. they are a little more than just modified family sedans, they do cost half a million each.

as a fan of motorsport all i want to see is close, exciting racing with plenty of passing and close calls. thats why i love bathurst, indycars and most of all nascar.

id say the main reason i dont watch as much f1 as i would like is the time its on.

i would love to see more money invested into nz open wheel racing though

oh and the race yesterday was bloody fantastic. what a decent drive from percat in his first bathurst. was gutted to see the early problems once again for coulthard/baird. thats 2 years in a row baird hasn't gotten into the car.

mcintyre did bloody well with his stints behind the wheel. shame the svg couldn't be there at the end challenging for the win. and good old murph, always comes alive at mount panorama

that drive from lowndes was amazing

He would have been mad at having to wait at the pits for so long. Simonsen was dreadful, and that idiot Marshall rear-ending Mac, ended our hopes of getting a winner

Holy sh*t! Dan Wheldon RIP, never ever want to see things like this happen.

Still can't believe it. Hearing all the other drivers interviewed after they heard the news was tough, as was seeing Dario in tears as he was gearing up for the parade lap in Dans honor. You can see just how close the IRL community is. This is a loss that will hurt for some time.

dreadful week for motorsports continued on the weekend with the death of MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli.

RIP

Tony Stewart won his 3rd NASCAR championship yesterday. absolutely unreal form in the chase (NASCARs 10 race playoff system). He hadn't won a race all season and goes and wins 5 of the 10 chase races. Was tied on points with Carl Edwards so it came down to a tie breaker of who had the most wins and Tony won that 5-1.

They went into the final race with Edwards leading by 3 points and it came down to them both fighting for the win over the last 40 odd laps. Stewart won and Edwards finished 2nd.

Was the closest championship battle in NASCAR history. That is as good as it gets.

Well done Smoke

He is one hell of a talented driver. Wins in pretty much whatever you put him in.

First owner/driver to win a NASCAR title since the late Alan Kulwicki in 1992. That's some very decent company right there.

Some interesting stats about the 2011 NASCAR season:

There was an average of 27.1 lead changes per race and 12.8 different leaders per race.

Each race averaged 3,666 passes during green flag racing.

23 races were won by less than a second and the average margin of victory was 1.321 seconds.

There were 5 first time winners and 18 different winners overall. (36 race season).

In the final race Tony Stewart made 118 passes to win the race and the championship.

Now i know a lot of people find NASCAR and motorsport in general boring but this is just a little indicator at how competitive and exciting NASCAR is. Well in my opinion anyway.

Yea Joe Faram won in a run off. Very well received and worthy winner

I am really really keen on going. Tickets still available? Leaving it a bit late i know. Keen to see how this strong looking Rotorua Rebels team will do.

Hard News, its the 4th and 5th so you don't need to miss the Nix.

Ha ha ha.  SO it is.

I spent so many years bailing out of work in Hamilton at lunch on Friday and driving down I hadn't considered the long weekend.

Junior News will be stoked.

Wellington back for the first time in 5 or 6 years as well but as they only had one SuperStock running at the North Island champs at home just the other week I doubt they will be much of a threat.

Dale Robertson in the 89w? He consistently looks fast.
