Its getting to be a bit of a trend, first news that Team Wellington were struggling to find money to keep them afloat then i read that the Central Pulse netballers have had to be financed by Netball New Zealand and will become a development squad for the national team because of it.
theres prob a heap of reasons for it but are we just trying to run nonviable sports competitions or thinking too big? (and am not limiting this to just welly here, i do know its not just us in strife.)

I'd love to know at what point the RoF becomes too pricey with average gates of ca. 7000.HarryHotspur2008-11-08 00:25:34

I imagine it already is, but that is a simple thing to fix.
Good football and wins (and a bit of f**king sun wouldn't hurt either).

I'm well disappointed by the Pulse. I'm not shelling out to see a development team. I'd rather see a team that even ATTEMPTS to be competitive. That's why I supported the Pulse last season. Not bothering for V2, and not until they fix this farce.

The farce Robb, seems to be with the executive level. The coach has been on a loser for 2 years. Given adequate players and no one really outstanding to work with. I wouldn't have gotten rid on the players nor the coach, just a little higher - a person/people with as much ambition in life as a career criminal!
There appears to not have been any effort in trying to attract the sort of netballers to lift or improve the results.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Manager was canned too IIRC.
Either way, cutting all of our over-21 players because developing future Magic players is more important to netball in this region than competition is ridiculous, and frankly a little insulting. I hope they fold, and the spot gets given to a genuine team.

And now the Saints can't afford to retain their American coach, Doug Marty...
