The Evening Smiggle wrote:
"A pencil was dropped in Napier today at around 11:40am. The pencil, believed to be red in colour with a panda on the end, is said to be in a stable condition. One eye witness said a caucasian male with Down's Syndrome in his late teens here on Holiday from Melbourne was responsible for dropping the pencil.

Another witness who goes by the name of Threak said the pencil "dropped to the ground quicker than Archie Thompson".
The offender fled the scene and was last seen in a car heading for Hamilton where it is believed he has family"
