It was very obvious from about 10mins in that what we had on the field wasn't working, and yet it stayed that way. Like we where waiting for them to score.

Personally I think think Ricki is a good before match tactician but during the game he freezes.

E.G. Ifill was marked out of the game. He must have seen this as we all did, but Ricki still did nothing. Was he ok that our main man was marked out of the game?

P.S. Just using an example. I didn't mean to put you in the same class as delusional sky daddy christ cult believers. Its the same thought process though, to only listen to what agrees with you, but it was below the belt. Sorry.
You still haven't outlined what you would have done. Its easy to criticise, but much harder to provide a solution.
the only possible other thing he couldve done is bring daniel on. but people forget that there is only a 3 man bench it seems.

anyway my first point and most relevant one is:

Ithink the point of the ignore option is to give people the freedom of choice.

If you dont want to use it... dont.

You have freedom of choice now.

To block is to take away freedom of choice.

A thread is a thread. Blocking people will disjoint the thread completly.

This may suit people who only want to hear what agree's with them.

Think about the people who are open minded to allow themselves 100% of what people say.

Add to that people who only see half a thread = failed thread.

If you back this idea you are actually anti freedom of choice.

I'm not sure if you understand the concept. Its not blocking people from posting, all the ignore function does is if I ignore someone who continues to make inane posts (ElG for example) then I don't see ElG's posts. It doesn't stop him from from posting, or anyone else other than me for seeing his posts.

Both criticism and praise is sometimes justified and sometimes just crap.

Thats what we adults do, make decisions.

I look at most criticism as constructive. Not "angsty".

Labelling comments "Angsty" is just a head in the sand write off.

If you block criticism your justdoing the sameand also risking the continuityof the thread.

Very presumptuous to call that all of one particular users coments are not worthy of your veiwing because they might not agree with you.

Way to make the forum a lame duck.

I just skip over whoooo's posts anyway.

Most forums have an ignore function - I find when I use it I actually feel compelled to click 'view this post' when I see it anyway..valeo2010-08-29 20:45:39

I really don't think the "ignore this person" option would serve it's purpose well enough. Not every post that a particular person has posted is stupid and pointless. The moderators can already hide posts that are overly offensive to other posters, but it takes time to read the threads to keep a check on such and what is offensive to one reader may not be offensive to another reader.

However, I would think that a having a personal "hide post" option available to every posters might serve a better function. This way each poster can "hide" a post that is a dislike to them but "show" a post from the same poster if it has a relevant point. Therefore each poster can just edit their own page and not worry about having to read it again as well as having a clean page to peruse positively at anytime. Also having the option to show the same post again, if there a need to understand/reminder of the context of the thread conversation.

So basically a "hide" option available on each post so that readers can ignore and customise their own reading page. It provides a perfect response for readers and giving less feeding to the troll that would lead to less trolling.[each reader would have different posts that they want to see or not, so it caters for different readers and satisfy the readers and posters alike]

It is the ignoring the post which we should be strongly work against rather than ignoring the poster, if you understand what I mean.

I don't if what I say is possible in this type of forum but I know that some of the readers here wouldn't mind to "hide" some of my longer posts [dribble] that I have done but then some may change their minds, "show" the post and have a read because they feel a bit more alert and sharper in their reading that day.

I think that we may just get a bit annoyed at some of the posts that really gets on our nervous because it just repeats or is negative or just plain stupid. We shouldn't take it personal but rather we should feel pity for the poster and the other readers instead and just get over it.AllWhitebelievr2010-08-30 01:25:48

If people are still going to bitch and moan about this can we at least move it out of 'Wellington Phoenix Discussion'? It has no relevance to the team at all.

Also, it's making the forum quite negative in my opinion.

I very rarely visit here these days but must admit being able to block a couple of the YF member's posts & threads would see me become interested again. I just got sick of constantly thinking ffs & decided my retina might detach from all the eye rolling they inspired

Because you can't really ban someone for there opinion, even if it is doesn't see any sense.

Maybe you could provide us with some stats generated from posts on this thread to determine whether it is a viable option for the Fever Exec and Forum Mods to deliver us with such a function...
