Cheers mate. You know it might seem attention seeking but sometimes it's nice to get people to tell you they do care and that you're a good person. Sometimes you just need to hear it.

And i'll email you sometime tomorrow brumbys, got bogged down in work today and for once actually had to get on with it.

Three for me, and two for them.

I love art, but i'm sh*t at painting (go figure). Not much better at sculpting either. Although i do enjoy just messing around drawing things from time to time, even if they look crap.

I don't know if you live in wellywood or if you've ever been to Gordon Harris, they got some sweet stuff there for all arts. I started recently with charcoal, soft pastels, some heavy weighted paper works wonders when I'm feeling down. just rage out at a page.. something flowing etc.

I felt down a few years back after breaking my leg playing football.

My flatmate told me to go to my doctor after moping around the house for a couple of weeks, I finally went and he diagnosed me with mild depression.

I didn;t believe him at first he then pointed out my symptoms= irritable, not sleeping, drinking too much and they all added up.

He prescribed a mild anti depressant for 3 months to crank my seratonin levels up.

I was very sceptical as i was the 'fun guy' about 5 days later it was like a cloud had lifted from above me.

i was clear thinking, positive and feeling good about everything.

I stayed on them for about 2 months, went back to the Doc who suggested I go off them. and hevent been back on them since.

It might not be everyones cup of tea, but after watching others slip into serious depression over the years it certainly is/was a fairly simple fix for me.

Good luck buffy, I hope you come right soon.

Thank you for that WHL. Very much appreciated and i will take into consideration what you have said. We have a resident doc down at Birko, might have a chat with him tomorrow, hey it's a start right?

Anyone else think crying helps?

Good on ya mate.

I'm not sure crying is a remedy, but sometimes just letting out you emotions out helps. I suppose that crying comes under that. Sometimes you just can't help it, you have a wee cry, but actually you do feel better afterwards. So yeah, maybe it does help!

I don't know when I'll be back up in Auckland next, but if you'd like to meet up, that would be cool!

Um. So i kind of collapsed at the football yesterday. Went to hospital, didn't have to stay overnight thank god. Mate took me back to his, looked after me, only just got home feel very jaded.

Required to visit my GP tomorrow, not on any drugs yet but getting prescribed a few tomorrow according to hospital. Won't go too much into detail but was a lot to do with stress. Not massively serious so don't worry too much.

Thanks for all your support.

This might work or might not but whenever I'm down I listen to Eminem. I know he has got a lot of people through tough times, but I guess that's only if its your genre.
On the flipside, the sooner I stopped listening to negative music, the sooner I started to get less depressed. Sure there is a time and place for darker music, but when you're down sometimes you need to listen to something with a brighter outlook on life. For me it's ska, in particular a band called Streetlight Manifesto. For some reason a lot of their songs are about depression and suicide, but all have a bright outlook and positive themes, without sounding preachy or poppy. Does the trick for me when I'm down. I guess there's a different band for everyone to lift them up.

I can completely understand that, but for me if I'm down I don't want to be listening to happy pop music for example Chris Brown or Madonna.. I want something that I can relate to at the time and that's what makes me understand it and get through.

Buffy I hope it wasnt too serious and your alright, but if your still looking for ideas, just think of times that made and still do make you laugh. How about if you have any scraps around, make something thats involved with something you like, for example whenever im bored I try and make stuff to help me with my Football. So far i've created a Free kick practise thing, were I put a few bits of wood together and it works just like a real wall, a wooden goal(pretty simple tbh), a passing/shooting accuracy thing were I hang a tire down from my goal and I made a smallish Football stadium just out of a few old cardboard boxes. Hope this helps with things to do!

Buffy, i can't be arsed reading 4 pages  but it means others are also trying to help you out,and i'm  may be way off here and not sure this will help but...

I watched this doco called food matters, any way this doctor made a statement.
Dr. Andrew Saul. He stated that two handfuls of cashews a day, gives one the therapeutic equivalent of a prescription dose of prozac.without SIDE EFFECTS!

Maybe it's a diet thing with you too.Anyway i found a few things that have helped me maybe it can help you remember not one cell in our bodies is made of a drug

the website is here fyi

Thanks for the links giddyup.

Been to the doc today. Prescribed me with a drug called Venlafaxine or Effexor. Works in a similar way to Prozac and like all drugs there are pros and cons doc went over them with me in detail so i fully understand.

Otherwise i'm ok, just feel very tired today, didn't get a good nights sleep. But my mood is ok.

Thanks for all the support and well wishes.

Yeah, alright i spose. sh*t weather + off work means i haven't done a lot this week. As you'll know boredom can be dangerous at times like this. I did go to football training on Tues night for the first time since my injury which made me happy though, trained the whole night with a smile on my face, just happy to be back in it. Also caught up with a mate for dinner last night, that cheered me up.

But yeah i'm ok, thanks heaps for asking. The drugs are helping i think, but take a bit of getting used to. Weathers cleared up so am just about to head out for a stroll then go grab an early dinner before watching some local football up at North Harbour.

Peace :)
