trouble is buff, she can and will be happy to be friends, I'm yet to met a guy who can do the same. Somehow women seem to be able to move onto the friendship leel regardless of what has gone before...we on the other hand cannot.

Move on, be acquaintances and out some distance between you and her!

Just cause you more angst, Buffy. Put it down to experience and move on

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

You don't have to be un-friendly to her, but you can't hang out anymore. That will do your head in.

If you wanna stay friends, my suggestion is take time apart first. Things will be too muddled at the moment, too easy to fall into old habits, and sometimes any sliver of hope of getting back together might make things confusing. Maybe stick to txt'ing if you must stay in contact.

Also, booze.

It's like when you've been given a banstick on the YF Forums.

You can read as much as you want but when it comes time to post a comment you get denied access to the site!

In reality mate, what she is saying is that she doesn't want anything to do with your penis! The rest of you she can be friends with though...

So, if you chop your old fella off, you can do the friends thing!

Correct!

Because then even if you were to have thoughts about "old times" then you would be incapable of doing anything about it! Hence you can be friends!

Depends if she's worth giving up.
My wife and I who I had been with for 17 years split in 2006. She's since remarried but we're still the best of friends and will at least talk or text to eachother everyday or at least every second day.
She's in Wellington and I'm in Palmy so the distance thing helps. We'll never get back together but I'm happy just to be friends. Too much history to throw away.

My ex and I were together for 3 years and I left him in November 2007, he was my first love and all that. We spoke for a wee bit after we broke up but then we both got all nasty and bitter and and we stopped speaking. We've since found new partners who we're both happy with and we are really happy for each other. I'm going through a really sh*t time in my life right now, last week was probably the worst and so I rang my ex and we had a big chat and I ended up going over to his flat and hanging with him and and his flatmate (who I know really well from when we were together) and it felt so good because he knows me so well and really understands me. Neither of us found it weird (our partners were pretty pissed off understandably, but they'll get over it) and it was really nice to catch up.
So methinks - give it a while, I've heard it takes the length of your relationship x 3 to get over it, but if you two are strong and know that you just don't work yu could still talk, just never BFF.
And in the meantime root anything you can, its good for the soul after a relationship, enjoy being single! Take care of yourself xxx

I say you stay friends but set some boundaries about what you talk to eachother about. Once those boundaries are set its pretty simple what u do next.....see below.

Go to Lagerfield (just down from Establishment) on a Saturday night and pick yourself up a Cougar - they're mad for it down there if your a well-dressed bloke between 21-30. You will not regret this, I look forward to a report on here Sunday morning.

Good luck Young Jedi, may the Cougars be with you.....all night.
