Truly a phenomenal player. 4 ODI centuries in a row, at a World Cup, all at over 100 S/R. Stunning.

Three for me, and two for them.

Easily one of the classiest players to walk the earth. Underrated too I reckon

Sri Lanka are likely to meet Sth Africa in the quarters right? Good chance of an upset there I reckon.

He's one of those players who undeservedly have been hidden in the shadow's cast by Tendulkar, Warne and Lara a modern greats. Add Kallis and Chanderpaul to that list as well.

Agreed. Remember, SA have never won a knockout game at a World Cup.

I'm glad we'll be avoiding Pakistan too. Much more comfortable facing either the Windies or Ireland.

Still have SA or Australia to win it all.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Yep. To many bad memories associated with Pakistan. Not least 1992. But was also reading an interview with Dion Nash about 1999 the other day.

Bangladesh putting up a good total here.   Mahmudullah is pretty impressive.

Bangladesh get 288 with the help of a brilliant knock from Mahmudullah. Cue Vader and co. using this as exhibit A of their presentation "Why NZ won't win the World Cup"

Was it super sixes, then straight to semis in 1999 and no quarter finals?

Afghanistan and England almost wearing the same kit - except for trousers and imagery on shirts.

Yes. Super Sixes in 1999 and 2003. Super Eights in 2007.

Good chance for the rest of our batsmen to step up and deliver here. Much needed right before the knockouts too.

good stuff Guptill, very good Hundred.  Didn't realise it's our first of the tournament.

Good to get some time in the middle for Taylor I guess but that's a very poor strike rate. We'd be there already if he was going at a run a ball.

Yeah he actually got slower late on then an average review to finish. I'm a bit of a fan but he seems to have some issues.

What's happening in the Afghanistan England game. Fudgeing sky not put a banner up or changed their schedule.

Afghan are 107/7 but it's raining......

Permalink Permalink

Well out of all that, I'm glad Guptill got some runs. Hopefully that gives him the boost he needs to make a mark on the rest of the tournament. I think we're gonna need him scoring runs in the knock outs.

Bet the Bangladeshis are miffed the didn't DRS that lbw call on Guptill early on.   Good game, pleased with our 100% record.

Well a win's a win. Not the most convincing again but 5/5 and top of the pool. You've got to take that.

Doubt Taylor's 50 off 1289 balls did much for his confidence, what a weird innings that was, and an even worse review. Hopefully he gets back in to proper nick soon.

I reckon India could lose this one.  Australia on the other hand should have n early night.

I find it funy that no games played in nz so far have been affected by rain, yet 3 in australia have.

Eden Park last week was rain affected George. Became 47 overs a side.

Raining in Hobart...

Would you rather face Australia in the semi or final?

Permalink Permalink

Semi would be over here, so definitely in the semi.

Yeah that's my view too. I can see the other side as well (that Australia could be eliminated by someone else before the final) but I can't see that happening.
