Entry fee for the Wellington vs CD game was $20. That is outrageously priced. Would cost you $40 if you went to both games.

I got one of the $35 20/20 season passes, so it only worked out $7 per game.  Mega savings right there!

Chris martins advice to Guptil about watching the ball didn't work

Permalink Permalink

Well that was quite embarrassing.
We used to be a team of fairly average players, who battled hard, scrapped for everything and generally punched above our weight. Now we seem to have at least as good (if not better) players to pick from but have no backbone whatsoever. No fight, no nothing. I mean seriously you can write off one of those kind of games as a bad day at the office but... what is it now? 12 in a row???
Questions need to be asked about captain/coach I think (as much as I like Vettori as a cricketer). Only question will be whether they change so close to a WC.

got home last night, switched on the telly and it was all over. 11 straight losses. Can it get any worse?

I'm glad I went to bed at 30/3, thought about staying up. A disgrace. I actually was onboard with Vetorri's takeover, as we were at our best when Fleming ran the team, but he has shown that with this side it's not working. We need an authoritarian 'my way or the highway' coach to come in and take control.

Its not just the losses, its the pathetic nature of the losses. I'm just glad I don't really care about 1 day cricket. If this gutlessness translates to our test game, I will be devastated.

Ummmm I hate to let you know but we have been absolutely gutless at tests for a decade or more.

So Brett Lee is in town tomorrow playing for the Firebirds [if the weather holds out]. Last time I saw him play was at McLean Park, where I was a punter, part of the feral embankment crowd. I was heckling him as he was fielding in front of us and he gave his share back before he had enough and swapped fielding positions with another boofhead. He clicked 160kmh that day. I'm not a big fan of his but I am of the Firebirds so it makes an awkward situation for me. I hope people get down tomorrow and give him heaps anyway - If we get half the crowd we had on Sunday I'll be happy.

Fuck this stupid game

I had a conversation with him once, seemed like a nice guy. I'm heading down there, I'm looking forward to it.

Cheap tickets for tomorrow's game here. I think $20 is a bit over priced but there have been a few ticket deals around. Get in.

How big was the crowd on Sunday btw? I was there, and it was a great day to lie on the bank and watch some cricket! We had some people in front of us complain that it was too hot, and move to the shade. Ha! In Wellington... in December...

Man there is some trash in the cricinfo comments.

I love how every time there's an article on NZ cricket (this one was about Vettori retaining the captaincy) the majority of comments are from raghu86 & amit1807kuwait. Ha.

Check this out... I mean really. Styris  - technically inept? Todd Astle - ODI spinner? Van Wyk as keeper?

Posted by raghu86 on (December 13 2010, 14:22 PM GMT)

franklin was the best batsman for nz in the series. He should be a permanent fixture now. And they should for once and all get rid of how, styris, elliot, mcintosh and hopkins, who are all 30+ and technically inept. Rather get in youngsters like brownlie or kitchen. Todd astle is a talented spinner and can be given a go. When do kruger van wyk and neil wagner qualify for nz? If not wyk, then De brooder should be the keeper. Team for pak series: guptill, mccullum, williamson, ryder, taylor, franklin, van wyk, vettori, tuffey, martin, mckay. Brownlie, kitchen, boorder, astle, wagner, mills, southee.

lol, astle and van wyk, yea right, de boorder next? I think he's forgetting Pete McGlashan, average of 40 in domestic one-dayers, far more explosive than both. And I think BJ Watling has a serious gripe too, averages 29 in 4dayers, 41 in one-dayers, and they pick him for the 4day team. How does that work?

I love how he complains that elliot, styris et al are all ove r30 and therefore should be gone, yet he picks martin who is the one of the elder statesmen of the team,.

Queenslander 3x a year.

TopLeft - were you at the game last night? Just how dark was it? And more importantly, are you the groundsman that dropped the catch and has a powderpuff arm?

Aces ftw. Such an exciting end to the game! Lolz, that was so funny when he dropped the catch

It was actually stoopidly dark, the last few overs were a bit of a joke. The umpires refused to go off for light because they (the same two) came off for light last year and were dragged over the coals for it. Poor buggers, can't win either way. If they want to play at 5pm it's just something they have to deal with on days like that.

And yeah, it was I who cooked the catch. Bit rusty to be fair (bad light and all that!). The retarded throw is something I've been practising for awhile - always gets a good LOL. Just chuck it with the left and you look like a nancy!

Fuck this stupid game
