It is in Europe. It is not Portugal. Couple of clues in light Blue below for those of a simple disposition.

They speak German.

The country is landlocked.

Correct.

The Liechtenstein national anthem, named Oben am jungen Rhein (Up above the young Rhine) has the same tune as God Save the Queen. It has been Liechtenstein's national anthem since 1963.

Liechtenstein is also one of only two countries in the world to be double land-locked, that is completely surrounded by countries which are land locked. Can you name the other? (Clue: It is a former Soviet republic.)

I'll ask a question (the answer of which I'm not 100% certain on) at the moment.

Without looking at wikipedia, what are the 11 official languages of the Republic of South Africa?
Permalink Permalink

Africaans
Zulu
English

err...Dutch?

I got nothing.

That's how far I'd have got in all honesty.  Probably would have added Swahili but on second thought I think they speak that further north.

This is as much a question for me.  I remember there's a few languages that have a capital letter half way through their names.

Oh, Xhosa is one (not one with a capital letter in the middle obviously).

According to wikipedia Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Northern Sotho, Tswana, English, Southern Sotho, Tsonga, Swazi, Venda and Southern Ndebele.  I didn't know them all myself.

"The English version of the South African constitution refers to the languages by the names in those languages, namely isiZulu, isiXhosa, Afrikaans, Sepedi (referring to Northern Sotho), Setswana, English, Sesotho (referring to Southern Sotho), Xitsonga, Siswati, Tshivenda and isiNdebele (referring to Southern Ndebele)." - That's why I remember some having capital letters part way through the names.

Somebody elses turn to ask a few questions.
