Should've watched the rowing. Well, that is if you're behind NZ. Probably not as exciting if you're going to back Team GB.

Very happy for the boys, hope we can get a couple more Gold on the lake.

Fantastic row lads!!  They were last after the first 500m by quite a bit but they came through the field pulling in the Slovenians & Italians.  Then 4th with 500m to go.  The Slovenians faded letting the Italians in but the Kiwis timed it to perfection to power home in first place.  Very exciting to watch.

I don't have Sky, so I hope Prime will show volleyball (not beach).

I had just said to my wife as they approached the 1500m mark "I don't know a lot about rowing, and the expert is saying we have a great finish, but there is no way we can make that gap up to second, let alone first in 500m".  Just as I finished saying that - BANG - on go the afterburners!

Hockey girls losing 2-0 to the Argies atm, any one know if that will that hurt our chances of getting into the next round?

We're definitely still a chance at qualifying for the next round, two matches to go and if we win both we'll be through. If we lose or draw one it'll be squeaky bum time.

Men's pair final, Eric Murray and Hamish Bond, 10:50pm

Women's double sculls final, Fi Paterson and Anna Reymer, 11.10pm

Men's single sculls final, Mahe Drysdale, 11.30pm

Could be a big night for the Rowers. The girls could be a minor medal chance, and both the guys are good chances to get golds. Fingers crossed for them all.

"A cheeky bronze" for the women as Ms Pickles said on the news.

Feels like a time for an all-nighter, 3 medals would be nice, if the women's doubles or Boyle can sneak a bronze somewhere it'd be great

Womn's heptathlon 110m hurdles hears on now.  Jessica Ennis on soon.

Ennis finishes day 1 on top (ooh err):

1. Ennis (GBR) 4158

2. Skuyte (LTU) 3974

3. Zelinka (CAN) 3903

9. Chernova (RUS) 3849

14. Johnson-Thompson (GBR) 3769

This is her and team-mate Katarina J-T:

If I was much, much younger I would take up stalking.

(BTW Ennis's first day score is the highest ever)

Bronze for the Mens Team Pursuit. Was hoping the Women's team would be a bit more competitive.

Actually a bit more about K J-T, which was a bit of news over in the UK in May/June.

She is only 19 (Ennis is 26) and in May broke Ennis's junior world record for heptahlon points. She is being touted as the next Ennis - perhaps even betterer.

Ennis in turn in May broke the UK heptahlon record held by Denise Lewis.

Other than all being top flight heptahletes from the UK they are also extremely pleasing on the eye.

(Perhaps there is another sport apart from football after all)

Last day of the Rowing tonight. Fingers crossed that Twigg & Uru/Taylor can pull something out of the bag and get some more medals.

The Hockey Girls won again this morning, putting us in a good spot to qualify it looks. We have Germany in the last round, with Aussie & the Argies facing off against each other.

How do you think the women weightlifters feel?

Have you seen the ripped abs on Jessica Ennis!?  Phoa!

There was also a bit of an uproar when a UK Athletics official called her fat not too long ago.   The chap has remained nameless (luckily for him).

Naturally I decided to do some extensive google research to see if his comments were valid.  My conclusion is that he is clearly wrong, but further research is needed.

That is why weightlifting has to remain in the modern Olympics.

Now that the Rowing is over, what other medal chances do we have? Val Adams is the only one that stands out as a big gold medal chance.

Pretty sure the sport of walking is a competition of who can run the most without getting caught.
