Smashed ... Michael De Vere bears the scars in '03.
I remember watching the medic trying to use a stapler to fix his cut

Atmosphere at Four Kings was awesome tonight - loved the booth full of my fellow New South Welshmen, right next to the booth full off *shudder* Queenslanders. Great stuff, most fun I've had watching league in a long time.
Bwahaha, that guy so deserved a WHO ARE YA!
Awesome game, huge intensity. QL were under the pump from the word go and apart from a few periods, were never really in the game. Tho I think QL did NSW a few favours in:
- Not picking magician Scotty Prince
- Playing Harmichael c**t out of position
- Constantly throwing away possession early in the tackle count.
looking forward to game 2 up at Suncrop, should be an awesome atmosphere.
Must say Slater didn't have his best game, ran too close to the sidelines too often
you guys were unlucky not to score after that awesome run from slater that ended up right on our line and you guys coughing up posession
for us i thought wallace had a blinder on debut and so to quin and bird had great games as well
like phil gould said "do we really have to wait three weeks for the next game?"
well yeah we do, but i wish we didn't

Their record at the Olympic venue is one win and a draw from 13 games since 1999.
The telling stat is that NSW have scored 305 points (23.4 points per game) at ANZ Stadium compared to 154 points (11.8 points per game) by Queensland.
historically it's a damn close series...f*ckn brilliant
"It doesn't matter if Scott Prince plays last night, the cold hard facts are Queensland played boring and predictable football through the middle," he said.
"We didn't play direct enough and we were too one-out.
"It didn't matter who was in the halves, they were never going to have the time or space they needed off the back of some good go forward.
"Every time we did go wide it was off the back of limited go forward, they just shut us down because they were all set.
"The blame for that rests on the shoulders of Smithy (captain Cameron Smith) and his forward pack.

Gutted that Lockyer is out but hopefully with Prince in there he can take some of the pressure off Thurston.
COME ON QLD!!!
Hopefully I can get back to Wellington in time for kickoff....COME ON YOU BLUES!

GO QLD!!!
NEW South Wales have called upon Sydney fans to adopt the same attitude as the 'rednecks' across the border by throwing away the beach balls and cheering the Blues all the way to victory next week at ANZ Stadium.
Chairman of selectors Bob McCarthy says the Blues will need a capacity crowd baying for Maroons blood next week if they are to upset Queensland and claim NSW's first Origin series title since 2005.
QUEENSLAND legend Mal Meninga is set to guide the Maroons' "Generation Next" into an exciting new era regardless of the result of Wednesday's State of Origin decider in Sydney.
Queensland Rugby League managing director Ross Livermore revealed on Friday night that his board had already agreed to offer Meninga the job again in 2009 and moves were under way for a further extension.
Livermore said the board was delighted with the job Meninga had done, with the Maroons aiming for a third straight series win over the Blues.
A FRUSTRATED Craig Bellamy is ready to quit as New South Wales coach after the State of Origin decider.
It has been revealed Bellamy has told friends he plans to stand down despite having been in charge for just one Origin series.
When asked on Tuesday whether he would continue as Blues coach beyond tthe much-anticipated finale, Bellamy said: "No comment."
But the man many consider to be the best coach in the game has told friends he is frustrated at some areas of officialdom and also dislikes coaching against his Storm-based Queensland players.
Fitting finale ... Brad Fittler scores for the Blues in his final Origin game in 2004
