Didn't they get back together?
And I see your point about not wanting to make him feel smug etc, HN, but there's no way in hell that that can outweigh insulting him. We've all wanted to do it for years.

He announced yesterday that they are getting married.
I was referring more to the image.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
In August they wrote to Mr Laws in Maori to say they were annoyed he was opposed to adding an 'h' to Wanganui.
Mr Laws responded by suggesting their teacher should be sacked and the students should learn to control their anger.
He said they should address the "real issues of Maoridom' before he would take their views seriously.
Mr de Bres yesterday presented the girls with certificates and said they acted "with real dignity and calm and quietly stood up for what you thought when dealing with such rubbish from Wanganui's mayor", the Dominion Post reported.
Mr Laws today called for the sacking of Mr de Bres, calling him an "unelected, liberal stooge" and the award a joke."
How are you the mayor of wHanganui?!
You are a disgrace. You can say what you want about me and this, but I don't care.
The fact is, I love Football (Soccer to your small minded type, you know.. Round Ball? Rectangular goal?) I don't like Rugby, in fact, I hate it.
Why does this not make me a real New Zealander?
I will stick with New Zealand no matter what.
I have not got a problem with NZ at all. It seems that you have got the problem.
You make racist, insensitive and horrible comments even to the people in the community you are paid to work for.
My question is.
Why should New Zealand have to listen to your bullsh*t all the time?
What exactly gives you the right to say that people who do not like rugby are not real New Zealanders?
There is more to being Kiwi than Rugby Mr. Laws.
You live in what I would say is the most Beautiful country in the world for gods sake!
We pride ourselves on being "100% Pure"
I certainly do.
Are you just bitter because you can't handle the pressures and problems of Whanganui?
My sister and I were adopted from Romania at birth (Yes! That's Right! An Immigrant! I'll gladly send you my details for you to deport me if you like) So Im not technically Kiwi.
I was brought up by what is good about this country, two loving parents, people who care.
I love everything about this place. the people, the scenery, Everything!
AND
I hate Rugby.
Get over it.
Un Kiwily yours.

MOTHER: "I've told you, don't pay him any attention, it only encourages him."
I wouldn't be up in arms, if violent, gang member, drug-addicted, alcohol-abusers got the snip at all.
But won't happen, and would be so prone to abuse that I couldn't support it.

I think it's a good thing if violent offenders are to be sterilized. People will no doubt moan about this infringing on their freedom, but hey, prison does that and not to many people think that prisons should be done away with completely. This is only one more form of it and is done with the intention of stopping violence and murder of the worst kind before it can start. These people are no good and while, yes, kids can emerge from these backgrounds and be good, proper, productive members of society, why risk it? Why risk years of emotional abuse, years of physical abuse and possibly murder for the slim chance of a child breaking away from the family way? I don't have stats to back this up but often it's just a cycle: a child will treat their family as they have seen their family treated.
People can genuinely change and turn their lives around so couldn't the form of sterilization be one that is reversable? Those who actually wanted children could have a parole officer-type figure who could monitor them to see if they'd really changed and if they really were responsible enough to parent.
Many people will just say how this will effect the poor and non-white groups within NZ, and yes it probably will due to the domestic violence issues many of these communities face. You would hope it would be used just as stringently on mid-upper class white families (though I can see this not being applied quite as stringently in practice).
Not saying this proposition is flaw-proof, of course. It is open to abuse and hard to define who the 'underclass' is. Added to that, those who got the snip would be far less likely to use contraceptives than usual and STD's would spread far quicker. It also won't do anything in cases where people without a criminal record abuse children.
I've seen a number of people mention how this is similar to the Nazi eugenics thing practiced earlier last century but that is complete garbage. This is a plan to protect children and reduce crime, the nazi's on the other hand wanted to breed out (according to wiki): criminal, degenerate, dissident, feeble-minded, homosexual, idle, insane, religious, and weak individuals in an effort to remove obstacles from their 'master race'. People also mentioned similarities to Spartan society and the American scheme in the 30s, again different but I can't be bothered elaborating.
Basically NZ has appalling child abuse figures and it's good that somebody has finally stepped up and made a proposition (just a pity it had to be Laws).
Of course parent education and various other initiatives should be run simultaneously.
When you see cases like that of Nia Glassie among others you see that something's got to be done. If they think of a better idea, then great, but nothing seems to have worked at all so far.
Also, think of how good this would be for local economies. Less disaffected youth causing havoc on the streets, less taxes being spent on giving benefits to violent individuals who have extra children based on the extra money they can get out of the system for it etc. Decisions like this shouldn't be made based on money, but on those who suffer, but I can definitely see this as being an incentive on the side for some politicians.
Aware that many people will disagree with this and you're free to do so. I'm keen to know your ideas to curb this abuse. I by no means think this idea is definitely the answer but it appears to be the best idea we currently have.

And having a bad state won't makes things better, only worse. The state can still commit crimes - not just the underclass - and just as abhorrent. One person's definition of crime is anothers good policy.
Basically, read 1984 if you haven't already, or Brave New World, for excellent articulations of the above.

I fail. Didn't realise it was her.
