Used to follow the Rockets in the 90s, and still have a passing interest in them.
Also have kept an eye on the Hornets since they moved to the Big Easy.

But generally don't follow the NBA the way I used to 10-15 years ago.

Recently liking Magic and New Orleans. Jumping on the Dwight and CP3 bandwagon. Always liked Magic though; Shaq, Penny, Horace Grant, Nick Anderson... Was my team in primary school, always didn't like the dominating teams (Bulls in 90's), Spurs now.

Liked Phoenix when they where run and gun, but Shaq trade was horrible and then losing Diaw.

Big game today then, Lakers visiting the Hornets!
And hopefully the Wizards can finally pick up a win at Charlotte
Top and bottom clashes in the West and East respectively

I've always loosely followed the Denver Nuggets as I lived there for a while a few years back.  The Seattle SuperSonics were a great team as well but as of this year they relocated to Oklahoma City and now play under the name Oklahoma City Thunder.

The only thing i like about basketball is that i can use it to lash thugby supporters when they say that Football is boring because there isn't enough goals.  They usually go on to say that rugby is more exciting because more points are scored.  I just come back by asking them if they think Basketball or netball is better than rugby because they are so high scoring.

Anyone been watching All-Star weekend?

The Globetrotters taking the piss out of everyone in the celebrity game, Special K's ball on a string completely fooled me

Rookie vs Sophomore was alright, had its moments and a round of applause to Durant. Was funny seeing D.Wade dressed up too!

Slam Dunk contest tomorrow, look forward to seeing Howard try and top the Superman from last year!

Depends. In the 80s I really didn't like Larry Legend and his Celtics but came to respect them once I got older. They had one of the best front lines in the basketball and McHale's post footwork would put most footballers to shame. Never liked the punks from Detroit when they had they 2 year reign and Jordan and his Bulls pissed me off because it really was a 1 1/2 man show for the most part when Pippen decided to show up. Never forget John Starks dunk in the playoffs over the Grant and Jordan after blowing past Armstrong. Absolutely. hate. The. Spurs.

Always been a fan of the Lakers when Riles was coaching them and pretty much always have been. He made players better and I think in 88, the entire Lakers starting 5 were on the All Star Squad. Always been a Magic fan as Penny Hardaway had ability but knees robbed him of that. I like what Portland are doing by building a team from the ground up. Those fans up there suffered after the 2000 season with the jailblazers.

Anyone watch following playoffs?
Cavaliers (1) - Magic (3) and Lakers (1) - Nuggets (2)

Lakers won today Kobe dominated with 40 but O boards and big plays at the end by Pau and Ariza won the game for them. Backing LeBron and Cav's to go all the way. Varejao has improved and West too with the addition of Mo Williams. But wouldn't mind Magic winning but I don't think they can beat LA.

Draft coming up want to see where Rubio goes and how he does

Wouldnt say that Bryant dominated that one, played a typical Kobe role but Melo was up there with him and the Lakers couldnt get near him, put up a better % as well. Game 3 is the one to look forward too, I dont (and hope) think the Lakers can win in Denver. Nuggets post season stats have been great so far and surely were not going to see a repeat of last years sweep

Draft lottery didnt go to well today, had dreams of Wizards pulling out that 1st pick but no, we get our worst possible of 5th
No Blake Griffin, Id guess we'll make an attempt for SG James Harden because who knows what Stevenson will be like when he finally comes back.

Great game today, this year's playoffs have been top notch. Pau Gasol has come on strong this playoff's, looks like a career defining series for him.

I think the Wizards are still in a good position Arenas, Butler and Jamison three allstars plus Haywood, Nick Young and Blatche looks to have huge upside. Wizards should make the playoff's next season. Of course with Flip as coach a first round exit is on the cards and most likely.

Yeah next season should be a lot better with players returning from injury, Plus we may still try shift our draft pick for a more experienced player if not Harden, Tyreke Evens or even Stephen Curry would be players id like to see come in. Im not to keen on Hill from what ive seen and read about the combine.

Game 3 today, Last chance for Orlando to pull something out so they better hope Superman turns up. Hedo and Lewis need to perform again as the supporting cast, cant expect too much from the backcourt the way things have gone but i reckon Lee will come out with something to prove. Agree with your Pau comments, He and Ariza have taken some of the load off Kobe and defensively Gasol has been sound.

Game was pretty good today too. The Magic hit some difficult shots as well as executing well on offense. (shot 62.5%) And really it came down to Kobe missing shots and at the Charity stripe, although Pietrus came up with some huge plays.

Oh and the re-emergence of Skip-to-my-Lou, see that spin move and clutch finger roll?

Had to stay away and catch the replay at night, Nothing better than watching a confident Alston on the ball. Couple of plays remind of his And1 days and i loved Lee dunking with authority in the 3rd.

Both sides made some crazy shots and overall it was a great game, Lakers didnt play all that bad but that Kobe turnover in the last minute was one mistake to many and that lost it for them.

Oh and how clutch is Lewis! Big shots through out the playoffs. Looks like we might have a series!

Finals teams decided, gutted the Suns are out.

Celtics vs. Lakers, classic rivallary

Not a fan of any, but would rather Pau Gasol wins and maybe outplays ballhog Kobe to win MVP. Can't stand KG and that actor Paul Pierce.

Yes I was disappointed the Suns didn't make it also (mainly because they share the same name as us), but also for Steve Nash.

I hope the Celtics win! hope it will be a good hard fought series

LeBron goes to Miami to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. They are now a super-team.

One of the most overhyped things ever, LeBron's Decision live on ESPN was called 'The Decision' sponsored by BING.

linds, i'm not a big NBA or Basketball fan, can you fill me in on just how big this whole thing is/was?

Three for me, and two for them.

Every team that could cleared cap room to go at the 2010 Free agents, this free agency has been built up for the last few years ever since LeBron signed his contract extension. LeBron James being the biggest catch, then Dwyane Wade and then Chris Bosh.

LeBron has been the best player in the league for a while now, I mean statistically he's crazy. His team has had the best win record the last two years and he's a two time MVP. He was hyped in High School, signed with Nike... Generally thought of as the second coming of Michael Jordan.

But, in the NBA there are a lot of Lakers and Kobe Bryant fans so there is a whole Kobe vs. LeBron thing and Kobe has 4 NBA rings, LeBron has none, but LeBron is only 25. And Kobe only won when he was with Shaquille O'Neal and lately with Pau Gasol, prior to that his team the Lakers were crap.

Dwyane Wade is also one of the best players, he has won a NBA title was the NBA Finals MVP, has a scoring title. Chris Bosh too is a 'franchise' player multiple NBA All Star.

So those three combine, LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh. All drafted in 2003, All won Olympic gold together in Beijing. A couple tears ago Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce at the Boston Celtics this is a bigger three than that, because they are younger and probably better players.

The Heat will be unstoppable this season, surely they have to be favorites by the length of the straight.

There is a lot of hate for LeBron now, I have always been a fan of his game but he is a huge ego, not in the Terrel Owens category, he generally says and does all the right stuff.

But he got 'Chosen One' tattooed on his back, once refused to shake hands. Has a campaign called 'Witness' which means I witnessed LeBron greatness.

They are burning LeBron jerseys now in Cleveland, there town has nothing now. Economically they are a very poor city, in sports all they had was LeBron, he gave them hope and as well plenty of money too.

If he stayed in Cleveland he would have made $30m dollars more (In his NBA contract) he left to try to get championship rings.

LeBron is from Akron, Ohio and the stars aligned and Cleveland Cavaliers just happened to get the number one pick when he finished high school, so home town kid.

Dan Gilbert Cavaliers owner wrote:

Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER KING WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert
Majority Owner
Cleveland Cavaliers

Thought this was rather bitter, funny and sad all at the same time. Also comic sans, is that the best font to use? really? Anyway adds the funny.

This is an official letter to the fans, published on the official Cavaliers site.

This whole story reminds me of Wayne Gretzky leaving Edmonton in the late 80s to go to LA (I saw a doco on ESPN the other day!). Biggest player in the game, leaving the club he grew up with, anguish when he left. A little different in that he was leaving the champions to go to a rubbish club, all because of the money of course.

Miami for the title, methinks.
