Saw NRL classic matches last nite Balmain vs Canberra '89, what a grand final!!!

Gotta luv the good 'ol days, when men were men. Great players - Chica Ferguson, Gary Belcher, , Gary "stiff-arm" Freeman, Benny Elias, Paul Sironen, Blocker Roach, Mal Meninga, Laurie Daly ah the list goes on!

And some crap ones - Darren Fritz, Brent "never scored a try in my career" Todd (well he crossed the line once or twice but it was either a forward pass or double movement.

What are your memories or great players from yesteryear?

Yea I used to have a '91 Bears strip. They had some great players...soden, les kiss, florimo, chris "marijuana" cariuana, brett dallas, halligan, billy moore, Mark "play with a broken arm" Graham. pity they not in the comp anymore.

what ever happened to...[insert player here]

- rod wishart
- scott gourley
- ricky walford?

what ever happened to...[insert player here]

- rod wishart - made a lot of money after he invented cheese strips and retired to Cologne
- scott gourley - working as a project coordinator for Ernst and Young
- ricky walford - lost an arm in a freak gardening accident, and now works as an accountant to a travelling gyspy circus

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

mark geyer was awesome. god bless the leniency back then, in todays game he wouldnt be on the field for very long.

found this for a laugh too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXIzp0ok24I

i remember watching an old 80s origin match last year, and someone hit the ball up into a flurry of punches. no one tried to tackle they just let rip on him as he ran it up. brilliance.

Remember when "Super" Mario Fenwick couldn't last 10 minutes from the kick off without either a) a broken nose, b) breaking someone elses nose, c) going to the blood bin anyway!

Grand Final. About halfway through this guy throws a hay maker that drops the guy on the spot.

Kevin Tamati, who could forget that??
