Has left. He left a while back

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Possibility of Jail. It is fraud. Some guys went to jail after the doggys in 02 and this is much bigger.

Could very well do. When the Dogs got done in 2002, two club officials were charged with 21 counts of fraud, theft and forgery by NSW Police. Both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to nine years imprisonment with a seven year minimum. (Yes, I did lift that from somewhere else!)Jag2010-04-22 20:05:44

Waldron should go to jail, its cheating on a just ridiculously unprecedented scale. Has anything this big happened in Australian sport before? In terms of the punishments handed down?

Of course the players knew about it. If there were "side letters promising extra payments stored in a secret file at the home of the Chief Executive" then it's the players who were receiving those letters!

Maybe they didn't all know about it, or know about the scale of it, but somebody was getting extra payments (and the NRL know who they are as well).

Good news they got stripped of their titles and fined.
Gutless cheating pricks.
I think the NRL have something wrong with what they have done for this season.

Firstly, stripping comp points is great. They didn't earn them.
But they also stole those same points from any team they have played.
Also Melbourne not accruing any further points this season, no matter what the result, turns the game into a farce.
Problem I see is that in its current form Melbourne play as cheats, not matter what the result the team they are playing are getting ripped off. Theres also a chance of players getting injured, against people who should not even be on the field.
The NRL now knows what everyones paid. So the NRL could now easily asure that Melbourne fields a legit side, for the sake of every other side in the comp.
If the NRL let them pay as a cheating side the comp this year is a write off.

And Melbourne were at this for 5 YEARS!
Whats the NRL doing? What are other teams doing?
Good old greed. Agents, Management and no doubt some players.
Heads all ready rolling.

they can't be dumped out the whole NRL season would be ruined, so no points if they win is a good solution i think to keep the season going

According to guys on 2UE plenty more to come about those involved this includes management, players agents and players. Apparently some of the secret papers have players signatures so they wont be able to say they knew nothing.

and when the Dogs got busted they had team of 'no-names' comparative to Easts, Brisbane, Newcastle. For this to happen to a Murdoch(?) owned team SUGGESTS more news is most certainly incoming.

Someone has to go to jail, If i was a fan of the Storm I would want money back from season passes etc.

why?  Would you have not attended the games and enjoyed them?

If anything, Storm fans should have to pay an extra subsisdy on the season passes that they had as it now shows that the team were even better than what they were paying for.

Interesting thing on radio just know was the ex chief exec who is supposed to have been the one who organised it.Apparently his back ground is largely in AFL and questions are being asked about Bellamys involvement in advising him on what players to offer these deals to.Plenty more to come on this i think.

hearing phil goulds take on the matter was very informative. did anyone else get the feel the footy show were slightly downplaying it, like they were talking bout it as if it were just some run of the mill scandel, spose they have to do whats best for the game.

gould talked about how the slary cap needs changing and whilst that may be true all teams knew the rules so its no excuse
