$90k for O'Brien? I can bowl as well as him doesn't mean i get paid $90k for it!!

They get that plus match fees.  Not a bad coin.

I'd say the aussies are on a heck of lot more.  Report have ponting and Lee geting a base salary of over 500K

To be honest, their salaries aren't really much for professional sportspeaople. I'd have thought Vetorri is worth much more to NZ cricket than 174k.

That's why they sign up for the Indian 20/20 league.

I think it either has just gone up or is going to go up because of a new tv deal, which would make cricketers better paid than rugby players overall.

I think Fleming was kind of instrumental in making sure that the first class cricketers got a decent cut...not 100% on that going on a patchy memory.

It was some deal with Sony wasn't it?

They also get $7500 per test match and $3000 per one dayer. Not bad coin really.

yeh but Southee is CLASS...it seems genuine class.  No objections to him getting that kind of money and performing for New Zealand. the 9 below him show the embarrassing lack of depth in NZ cricket...and yes as mention O'Brien..Flynn? Marshall? Mason? hmm...you notice how Southee has easily jumped ahead of them on the back of is it one test?

that has to be the real comment on the ability of those 9.

no seriously I thouhgt it was with an Indian TV station..unless they were owned by Sony...

do you think new zealand cricket offers financial advice to the younger guys?
Some will be making about $1500 - $2200 hundred a week
a lot of cash for some

saw matthew bell at the netball last night, perhaps hes looking for a new job as a netball umpire. that umpire last night shouldered arms more than bell did to sidebottom

Not suggesting that he doesn't deserve it, just commenting in general as to what a 19 year old is gonna do with all that....as commented previously thats $2500 a week......does he get any help managing his funds?

I heard that this year the players offered contract were given a 40% pay rise compared to previous contracts. Lonegunmen2008-04-16 12:21:50
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

Yeah but how many games did James Franklin play for NZ this year??

lg the 40% rise is because the indian tv money payed to the icc has started to filter down to the member countries. top domestic players now can make up to 50g a year. enough to be a full time pro i would have thought.
the big money on offer in cricket places top blackcaps on a par with top all blacks, and with the added money in india if you were a young kid who like southee was equally adept at rugby and cricket (southee was a quality 1st 5 at kings) where would you be heading? just another thing for rugby to worry about

or hopefully give NZ cricket the confidence to feel more bolshie when it comes to getting shoved around with scheduling on dual use grounds...
