Never took you to be a fan Vader. I can now picture you with a whiskey next to you, Royals belting out on your transister radio as you pound away on your keyboard dishing people

Fair call to her for winning awards. Well done, but I think she and that song have to be one of the most over rated episodes of 2013/2014. I'm sorry but that song does nothing for me other than remind of Bjork. I'll stick with Mumford & Sons for the time being.

Still if Lorde can back this immediate success with something better rather than ebcome a one hit wonder, then most certainly good luck to her.  Anyone remember Ben Lumis?

Yeah, because winning NZ Idol and having a #1 single in NZ is exactly the same as going to #1 in the US and UK and winning a Grammy for Song of the Year. Honestly. Some of the shit you spout is embarassing.

Hahaha oh wow. Comparing Ben Lummis to Lorde. My word.

Three for me, and two for them.

Also, winning a grammy for best song isn't about what an individual likes its about what the majority likes. Just because it's not your cup of tea LG doesn't mean she doesn't deserve the award. Pretty big achievement for a kiwi let alone a 17 year old one

Bopman, you always have to make it personal if someone doesnt suck up but may have a different opinion. Buffy, you're the same.

Not everyone is going to cry and fawn all over this young woman. I just dont think her style is to my liking. She sounds like Bjork. Sure it has been a brilliant achievement for her but now she has set herself an extremely high bar. She will have to follow up with something very special and good or risk what happened to Lumis. Thatis the comparrison I made and that you missed. Obviously concentrating on trying to make me look stupid because I didn't agree with some on here instead of taking on the point I was making.

I note this morning shes ruffled some of the media feathers with a tweet thanking her fans for being at the airport but also a shot atso many of the media also being there. If her manager didn't think that was going to happen nor even Lorde herself then they might wish to stay away from the spotlight. It is inevitable that the media scrum here will try and milk her success for everything they can.

I didnt say anything personal about you though LG, just that its crazy to compare the two when one is already far more successful than the other.

Stop acting the victim.

And you still miss the point. Let me soell it out simple for you. Lorde has set herself a high standard, she will either have to surpass it or risk becoming a one shot wonder.

I am not a fan, but do acknowledge her success in an industry known for its variety. Therewas once a group that won lots of awards one year, never to be heard of again.

You don't think that seems unnecessarily negative?

She could retire today and she'd still have that Grammy.

Allegedly

Very true. I dont think negative, but she and the general public need to keep theirexpectations realistic. She's done well for her type of music, but we all know how much the NZ media in particular like to build someone up before chopping them down. Winning two grammies is impressive, but will need to back it up with some if not equally as good, something better. I guess her management and co writers will need to be mindful of this. If she did retire today, she certai ly would have two Grammies but I don't see her retiring. Her dig at the press this morning is not going to go unnoticed by them.

I don't think she NEEDS to back up anything.

I also don't think she gives much of a crap what the media in nz think of her.

She can say what she likes about the media. She doesn't need them on her side at all. She's becoming known for speaking her mind and that's a good thing.

Like LG I don't really "get" her music.

But:

  1. She is so far untainted by commercial success and seems to speak her mind - which so far has contained a lot of common sense and positive values.
  2. That's it I think.  Nothing else.

Good on her and hope she doesn't get swamped by "the machine" or "the man".

(not sure what those terms mean but hopefully the yoof will know and give this old geezer a booyakasha big ups or something like that)

It was actually pretty funny, but sadly the feverites will now never know :( She didn't care when Tyler the Creator ridiculed that very pic to a global audience, I don't think she'd give a shit if I did... i know if I were worth $145m I wouldn't
