Tim Brooke- Taylor.

Very sad.

He died from Covi-19 aged 79

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/414106/british-comedy-legend-tim-brooke-taylor-dies-after-contracting-covid-19

So many people are getting the virus in the UK and with 1000 per day dying, there are bound to unfortunately be a few major celebrities and retired sports people dying. Surpassing Italy and Spain in daily deaths now.

They started showing all episodes of "the Goodies" from episode number one only two weeks ago on the Jones channel on Sky.

(Every Wednesday night)

A nice unintended tribute.

The early seventies were liberal times - episode one has a topless woman, which you wouldn't see in a show aimed at kids these days...

The Goodies still holds up well and is entertaining for adults too.

retired to live in the Mull of Kintyre. Jim McClean of Dundee United managed to talk him out of retirement and he played 7 games for United in 1979.

Fantastic player: Tough, physical but very skillful. He could really ping passes around with his left foot. Him & Jack Charlton at the back were formidable for Leeds

I remember him being outstanding in the 1983 FA Cup Final and the replay for Brighton against Man Utd.

A great underdog performance by Brighton which captured my imagination as a teenager.

Resulted in him being snapped up by Liverpool.

A fine player: very consistent & versatile too. A better option at right back for England than Mr Mediocre (Phil Neal) IMO

Now there was a very likable bloke.      RIP my friend.

I should have done this back in February but I didn't. But here is my piece on his career, which includes some of the Scottish stuff that people here may not have been aware of. A legend from Cambuslang to Hamilton (the NZ one) & Auckland

I can't believe Chaswick Boseman hasn't been put up on here. Black Panther - in that role, he was pretty good. But my favourite film of his was Number 42 as Jackie Robinson - The first "black" player to appear in the Major Leagues. A very good film that confront's some terrible treatment.

RIP Sir. Your career may have been short but you have done some excellent work.

The very first Mr's Bond. I always thought she had mischief eyes that smiled - in a good way of course. Did more for feminism than burning the bra did. She showed females can lead in the Avengers and in the Bond film.

Ron Cobb, one of the most prolific and impactful designers in cinema history, died this week at the age of 83.

Cobb is a name that’s well-known to film nerds, but maybe not so much to the general public. That’s wild, considering he worked on some of the most successful and influential films from the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s: Star Wars, Alien, Back to the Future, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Conan the Barbarian, The Abyss, The Last Starfighter, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, to name just a few.

On Star Wars, he designed some of the creatures in the Cantina scene, including the Hammerhead. On Back to the Future, he helped refine the design of the DeLorean to give it the DIY look that made it so memorable. For Alien, he did the exterior and interior of the main setting, the Nostromo. He helped Steven Spielberg come up with the idea for E.T. and had a cameo in the film. He designed all the ships in The Last Starfighter

Not fan of Kiwi cricket then as dont think would be many who could say they loved seeing him at the crease. Appreciated his ability just wish he wouldnt continually show it against us. RIP Deano
