Ubergunner I belong to a sect that believes in the Turtle but holds that the elephants do not in fact exist. We have faith in the turtle and denounce those who waste time on praise of the elephants. This belief is founded on secret papers revealed not to the prophet Pratchett but to a wandering businessman in Morepork.

Yea i dont agree with organised religion, just due to the fact that its had to many people playing apart in what a specific religions morals and beliefs etc and input was more beneficial for themselves..in short term "too much chinese whispers" i do believe in a god (god, not some dude chilling in the sky judging us our our peformances on earth) but god being everything and that explains as to the beginning of the universe etc etc

No belief in religion, they all just steal fables off each other. For example Christianity stole Christmas from the Romans, it was originally a massive end of harvest festival called Saturnalia and everybody loved this festival so they needed something equally cool to help people convert to Christianity. But the Romans stole half their stories of the Greeks - ie the Greek Zeus and the Roman Jupiter are the same person, and most of the stories are the same but with different names (ie Hercules/Herakles).

That's my rant, and I'm not one to judge, people can believe in what they want as long as it doesn't affect me, I don't push my views on others (except for this rant I guess, but it was asked for!) because I don't like others pushing their views on me!

Isn't that a bit of a contradiction? The nature of god is such that his existance can't be proven - at least scientifically. I would have thought the agnostic believes god's existance is a possibility, but only because it's more or less impossible to prove that he/she/it doesn't.

Proving the non-existance of anything is always pretty hard...

have you heard of CERN in europe, that is god or so scientists believe it will be, CERN is 26km ring under the ground the slams 2 protons togetherat such a speed that creates a similar effect to that inwhich is the big bang

Which proves nothing. Nothing at all.

Science is quite lacking in proof. It has lots of "proof by example" and observation, but little concrete proof. And crashing protons together is nothing new...

yea i dont believe that science will ever explain everything, science is just a bunch of equations that scientist use to claim they know how and why, there are things that equations will never be able to explain, quantum physicis is a rather interesting concept

I love quantum, mainly because I like stuff that is screwed up, as some people will say just like me. And not screwed up in a bad way, a good way of screwed up ness, which is possible. If that makes any sense, the only English I ever learnt was in French.

Non believer (different to atheism in my eyes, which, as I understand it, has a position of arguing the non existence of a divine creator. Must be difficult to 'prove' there is no such thing, as how can you disprove something based on faith?!).

Someone find out what the term is for such a position as mine (Yomcat rises to such challenges), as I can't remember off the top of my head and my vocabulary needs expanding (although I tend to narrow it to a few choice examples of the anglo-saxon vernacular when watching Spurs and the Nix!)

Atheism has two meanings

1) Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods
2)The doctrine that there is no God or gods

You may mean agnositic if i read you right. That is..
1) One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
2) One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism

I had a friend who is a physicist who worked at CERN.
It's on the border of Switzerland and France, but not officially in either country.

The entrance is on the Swiss side, but he lived in France, so he had to cross a border twice a day.

And it has an Ernest Rutherford St (look on a $100 note if you don't know who he is)

Neither, Atheisim or Agnosticism, as I remember it...I'll do some of my own donkey work and report back (as if anyone is bothered!.) But thanks for the assistance: clearly meaning 1 of agnosticism is closest!

ok so here's a question. I was driving over the Haywards the other day and looking at all the beautiful farm land, and I saw this cow and a calf walkin side by side, and my initial thought was god damn that must be painful to give birth to.
So then I'm thinking, God punished Eve for taking the apple by giving her the pain of childbirth, wtf did the poor cow do to have to push something like that out??
