Indeed. Almost start to finish. Think i heard it will be the biggest single payout for a NZ sportperson ever.

Awesome achievement and thoroughly deserved. Makes up for losing the title on the last corner last year when he ran out of fuel. This will be immense for NZ Motorsport.

Awesome result for racing in NZ, good on him. Fully deserves it!

Pretty sure Indy cars run on wood Methanol race fuels. They don't use petrol.

Brilliant effort. I'd like to see him finally step up to F1 and see how he'd go. being in the current stuff for about 6-8 years now hasn't he??

I can't recall many IRL drivers stepping up to F1. Perhap because most tracks are oval and it away from the soptlight of the european based F1 teams.

I saw him race at the Indy 200s in Milwaukee in 1999. I got talking to a US Indy fanatic and he was telling me then that Dixon would go all the way. He said he had that x-factor that the best all seem to have. Good on him. Scott Dixon I mean, not the Indy fan.
On the subject of his using supermarket discount coupons for his gas, I reckon it would slow all of them down a bit if the pitstops involved the drivers having to leave their cars and queueing behind a line of leather-vested westies buying 20 Rothmans and a steak and cheese to go with their "10 bucks of 91, mate".
They should also be allowed to use Wacky Races style tricks and gadgetry, like big daddy-longlegs-like extensions to their wheels to drive over the top of each other, and getting out of their cars and painting fake tunnels on concrete walls.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

There was an excellent interview with him on TV1 yesterday afternoon. He really is a humble, modest guy. Had a good laugh when who in the world would he like to have drive as his number two - Scotts choice - Robbie Rakete! said with such a dead pan face. Classic comeback line!

Its always milk? not champers like F1, any idea why? is it a milk company that sponsors the race?

Milk became the drink of champions after Louis Meyer, the winner of the 1936 Indianapolis 500, was photographed gulping down a bottle of buttermilk, his favorite drink. Apparently, his mom had recommended the drink, claiming it would refresh him.
The photo found its way to the desk of an executive at the Milk Foundation who, seeing a rare promo opportunity, "made sure that from that year on the winner of the race received a bottle of milk to drink." A tradition was born. Not surprisingly, the National Dairy Council supports this ritual, calling the celebratory chugging of the milk, "a winning example for people everywhere who are looking to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle."

Yes, since the 30's. It's just become tradition I think, I know there was an uproar in the nineties when Emerson Fittipaldi won and drank Orange juice from his own business.

Scott Dixon is 1st with less than 10 laps to go. Hope we don't see the same situation as last year.

Awesome effort. Only wish I was going to Indy on the Gold Coast this year so I could cheer him on. Consistent effort all year. Would be interesting to see how many races he finished outside the top 5. Would be stuff all.
