Shock Horror - Front Page of the Dominion
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Only in the Dominion Post would this be considered a FRONT PAGE story. I kid you not that's where it was in the print edition...   http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/sport/local-sport/2716361/Rugby-clash-shifts-cricket-one-dayer-to-Basin

There was an ODI against Aussie at the Basin a couple/few years back. An awesome day, from what I can recall. Arsenal2009-08-04 15:38:42

I was at that ODI at the Basin, I remember we had Lane Hamilton, Jeff Wilson and Tama Canning all in the side, not a high point! Brett Lee ran through us and was bantering with us on the bank that he only ever took wickets against us

I actually can't think of a single time we've experienced success at the Basin when I've been there, and I've been there many times over the years.

@bopman: "anyone who has a little bit of talent is going to get thrown in a black uniform at the moment" - Stephen Fleming at the time.

Odd thing was, first game of the series at the Caketin we should have won. Hamish Marshall and Craig McMillan I think played mean inning and we ended up needing 12 off 12 lost. Macca getting stumped by Gilchrist off McGrath is a memory that will live forever though

Ohhhh, great. Basin is a tremendous cricket ground.

But curious front page story. I suppose it reflects the love for the basin?

I couldn't go to the last one dayer at the Basin as I started a job on that Monday and thought it a bit much to take a day off to get pissed at the cricket in my first week.  From what guys who went tole me though, it was pretty sh*t - took 30 minutes to get beer, with queues for miles from the stupidly small number of beer sellers.

I love the basin, but if I have to wait 30 minutes for a beer at a one day cricket game I am going to save the ticket money and watch the game at the Rimutaka Tavern.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

That game has been changed back to the stadium. Not long after that article went to print the decision was reversed due to another schedule shuffle.

Fuck this stupid game

Seems the U2 gig was going to cause too much hassle at the time - could now be in November 2010 which could see a Phoenix game played elsewhere again.
